RX7 back seats with battery relocation?

so my question for you all is is there any room under the seats to relocate my battery to? ;) Id rather ask before I start tearing the interior of my car apart lol

rx7rcer09 08-03-11 04:51 PM

with the way the seats sit so low using a full size battery i would have to say no. using a small compact battery its possible.

MazdaSpeedDan 08-03-11 05:06 PM

I have mine in the rear storage unit, its a smaller battery though as a regular one wouldnt fit.

:D I like them, lol I tend to bring friends home from the bar its amusing to play how many people can you cram into the Rx7 LOL

Save yourself the headache, and move it to the trunk. That's where I put mine, never had any issues... It's about two feet further more or less, than in the bins..

Coverhag 08-03-11 07:21 PM

No, there is no room under the rear seats. The seat foam sits on the floor. Move it to the trunk. :icon_tup:

back seats are prob my most hated mod in Fd's... I think they're absolutely pointless.

Lower insurance rates! ;)

Valkyrie 08-03-11 08:54 PM

If it's because of an FMIC, get a small racing battery and carry a portable charger in your trunk lol.

They look far classier than the hard plastic bins IMO. They also leave a crap ton more room for storage than the bins (which is ironic)

Valkyrie 08-03-11 10:45 PM

I agree. They do look better...plus you can have a rear tower bar without reducing any storage space.

greenday_5606 08-03-11 11:01 PM

I love the look of the back seats but they aren't realistic unless you're a dwarf or you lack both legs.

Valkyrie 08-03-11 11:15 PM

You could carry one person over short distances in a pinch. I used to carry up to three people in my FC in the hatch :D But it's super embarrassing to drive around like that.

Lol I can totally relate you look like a goon if you have someone in the back my chest is almost touching the steering wheel lol

MattGold 08-05-11 04:53 PM

I have the back seats and love em... more function for storage IMO. But I digress, this isn't a thread about bins vs seats.

I got rid of my spare and put a mini battery (Odyssey) in it's place with a can of fix-a-flat and a small portable pump. I figure if it's a situation where fix-a-flat doesn't fix it, it's probably gonna have to be towed anyhow.

ehhh to each his own...

CloudPump 08-05-11 05:40 PM

My car came with back seats (JDM) they're pointless. My battery is in my trunk (also pointless)
