Running Too Rich
 

First, a little background:

Mods: street port, PFC, PFS intake/SMIC, supra pump, 550/1300cc injectors, y-pipe, dp, hi-flow cat, RB cat back, modified stock turbos (from Wael's car).

It all started with a good running, sequential (not great running, as this setup was only making 300rwhp @ 14psi) car that all of a sudden would only boost to 7psi. I had just changed plug wires to MSD's, and adjusted the throttle cable, and then only 7lbs.

So, I decided to go down the trouble-shooting checklist for turbo operation, and decided to redo my silicone vac hose job with viton, and while I was at it, I could check all the solenoids, check valves, and actuators ( all were fine and operating). I also decided to bypass a few of the systems on the car: EGR valve, double throttle, AWS, and throttle body coolant. The air pump/air control valve remains aboard. I removed the throttle position sensor to remove the cam for the AWS, and replaced it as close as I could to it's original position. I was tempted to replace the FPR, but as it was working fine (it's a 34,000 mile car), I decided to leave it alone.

The systems that were removed were covererd with block-off plates from 2751 Engineering (highly recommend), and the connectors for the removed solenoids/actuators were taped-up, but no resistors were put in them, as it's not necessary with a PFC.

I buttoned it all up, and started the car. Huge amounts of blue smoke, barely able to sustain an idle, a very lopey idle, would not clear-out in 1st gear, puffs of blue smoke on over-run when backing off in gear. Obviously, there's too much fuel. The car had been tuned by Steve Kan, and the map hadn't been touched. We checked the throttle position sensor via the PFC, and it was off just a touch, nothing significant.

Here's the question: what have I done? Any suggestions on where to turn to figure out the fuel issue? I think the boost problem remains, but before I can even worry about that, I need to get the car running smoothly again. Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

If it's blue smoke, would that be oil not fuel? PCV system blocked/dicked up somehow?

PC valve checks fine. Pulled plugs (NGK Iridiums), and they're completely sooted, so it's rich. It's sort of a blue smoke, the tail pipe is covered in soot after I run it. Can't figure out why it's gone full rich on me.

Oh, indicentally, I did change oil/filter when I put it all back together, but it's not overfilled.

Check to make sure the map sensor is connected. Its an easy check/fix if that's the problem.

it is definitely not his MAP sensor.

I was basing that on this part of his comments.

Other than that the 7psi issue could be as simple as crossed connectors at the wastegate/pre-control solenoids or possibly miss routed/not connected hoses.

Actually, I did forget to attach the MAP sensor. After the first 'cloud', I checked for loose hoses and found the MAP sensor (duhhh). Started it again....same result- a bit less, but still way rich. The connectors are correctly plugged-in (with the color coding, it's pretty hard to screw-up).

Would any of the systems I've bypassed create this situation? Are there any sensors that the PFC is reading that would richen the map?
