running parallel ECU's
 

I've got an auto FD, and would like to run an upgraded manual Pettit ECU. I've found a few old threads that mention being able to run both the stock auto ECU in parallel with the manual Pettit ECU, but can't find any info on how this is done. Any info would greatly appreciated.

You are thinking of the Peter Farrell ECU (PFS). It's a piggy back ECU which works along with the stock ECU.

a little off topic But.. just run 10 psi with all the bolt on parts and you will be fine. no ecu needed . the auto trans can't hold high boost. the trans will hold up to about 325 hp but not for long if you hammer on it. spend your money on 4.3 gears in the rear end. thats the best mod for the auto trans cars.

I am going to do the same thing, but with a hatech. Its not a PFS piggy back either.

Basicly so far my research has gathered that you need several resistors to fool the stock ECU into thinking it has control over the injectors, ignition, and turbo/emmisions controll solenoids, both ECU's need to get inputs from all the sensors, and the standalone actually runs the turbo's/ignition/injectors exclusivley.

It would be easier to do an AUTO to manual conversion!!!

there is a company that make a patch harness about 1ft long that is a pass through that can be used to T into, it would go between factory ecu and the main engine harness, then you would need basicly a second one of the same, preferably with 2-3ft of wire, which could also be made by the same company to hook up the petit ECU.

Interesting thread, just a heads up though those autosport harness adapers are expensive. I looked into one a while back.
