Ok I have been having some problems lately. First i installed an ic and accidentally knocked the map sensor hose off. My car ran like crap then stalled, flooded and it took me a couple of days to get it started again. Now it starts but it idles real low like 200, and has very very little power. I still get like 5 or 6 lbs of boost but the car is real weak and also sounds like absolute crap. My dad says its running on one rotor like his 2nd gen used to do. I am going to check the plugs next. Is there anything else i should check. Also how would i know if the engine is blown? It was running fine when i took the ic out so I don't know if i could have blown the engine without even driving the car.

You wont know for usare unless you do that compression test...

but CHECK all your connetions. It may be possible you just left something off.

I can't imagine how you could blow up your engine during an I/C install - rotaries are not THAT sensitive.....:):)

It sounds like you flooded your engine. You could be running on one rotor only. I suggest pulling and replacing your spark plugs - they probably got fouled during the flooding. Hopefully a new set of 9s is all the car needs.

I hope you have some method of increasing the fuel supply (programmable ECU or remapped ECU or Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator, etc), to compensate for the I/C. Otherwise you WILL blow your engine.....

GReddy elbow
 
Widebody- when you changed your Greddy elbow, you started having trouble, I believe. You found one hose that came disconnected- MAP sensor, I believe. One of my previous posts mentioned that I had trouble after adding the GReddy elbow and the 1/2 inch diameter hose for AWS had no where to connect on the Greddy elbow. I re-installed the stock elbow and connected the AWS hose- car runs fine. Put the Greddy elbow on- car has slower boost rise with AWS tube un-plugged. With the AWS tube plugged, the car runs like crap. It also over-pressurizes some of the tubing connected to the AWS and manifold and blows off the tubing to the boost sensor, located in back of the elbow- car runs even worse and will not idle. Put stock elbow back on with AWS hose connected- car runs fine. If you have your AWS hose plugged, check if the boost sensor tubing has come off. You may want to temporarily put your stock elbow back on until you can get a nipple welded or threaded on to the GReddy. My car was flooded pretty bad, but started once I put the stock elbow back on and reconnected the tubing to the AWS and boost sensor. Hope you get yours running.

wow that sounds really familiar. I am going to check my plugs before i put the stock elbow back on because i'd have to put the stock ic back on too and i don't feel like doing that. a lot of people are saying bad stuff about plugging the aws hose so i guess i'll have to break down and drill into the greddy elbow. you did this i am assuming...was it a pain in the butt or what?

Widebody- Mine *did* run with the AWS hose un-plugged, just not real well. But the boost sensor being disconnected- well forget it. I made enough smoke to kill all the mosquitos for miles around. I had to look several times before I spotted that it was disconnected. The tubing is positioned so it looked like it was still in place, but was not. I have my GReddy elbow off right now. I have a 3/8 inch ID nipple (5/8 inch OD) that will match up with the AWS hose, but I am searching the hardware stores for a thread tap to use after the hole in the elbow is drilled. I have taps larger and smaller, but not the correct size. The ideal fix would be to heliarc weld an aluminum nipple (the one I have is galvanized steel), but I have not been able to find anything but six foot lengths of aluminum tubing. I may just buy the damn six foot piece, cut off the one inch I need and keep the rest for... well who knows? Can't you replace the stock elbow and the Greddy hose connectors and small angle tube without removing your new IC? Or did you get another brand of IC? I'm not sure what combinationof elbow, IC and pipes you got- there are a couple of combinations, depending on whether they are designed to match up with the stock IC or an aftermarket IC. Anyway- hope you get your FD running.

yo forget about the car... I am just psyched about my post getting some rating stars! haha no for real my ic is some kind of copy of the m2 medium size. i'm pretty sure i need the greddy elbow on there. I haven't seen the car in a couple of days but I really think its just the plugs. i will replace them and pray to god that the damn car is fast again. no matter what i am going to do the nipple deal in the back of the elbow because too many people are talking about bad stuff with plugging the aws hose. thanks...hope everything is good with your car

I am putting in a new motor on Monday since I was running on one rotor but this happened at 7K RPM and the engine shut off. If you are on one rotor the car will barely start and as soon as you let go of the gas it would die at least for me.

migamb: yeah thats the way it is. real hard to start and it feels like it will stall if i let of the gas. also the car could get whooped by a ford taurus. real slow and it sounds like crap too.

That is exactly what happened to me. Right now I am removing my motor since I am getting the new one tomorrow.
