Run out of room for new guages, where to put fuel pressure?

I am installing a fuel pressure guage pretty soon, but am out of ideas as here to put it. I already have a temp guage on the steering colum, boost and EGT on the A pillar. I dont really like the center speaker pod location. Any ideas? I may just start using the PFC to read temp.

level7 02-06-04 04:14 PM

if your not willing to graft into the interior pieces, i would just read from the PFC

just dont add another guage pod to the a-pillar :)

R-magic 02-06-04 04:56 PM

Use a single guage pod and add it to the A-pillar. Now you have a tripod A-pillar.

doncojones 02-06-04 05:07 PM

Auto Meter sells a triple pod that replaces the entire pillar trim piece instead of screwing on top of it. That's a cleaner-looking solution. Part number 22675, $58.95 from Summit.

I have a pic of my 3 gauge install under my single unit stereo. I'm too retarded to figure out how to post it. PM me your e-mail address, and I can e-mail it to you. Maybe you can post it.

It looks nice.

put it in your din or get the mickey mouse ears from border

jspecracer7 02-06-04 09:44 PM

fuel pressure's very important. It's one of those gauges that you don't need to watch constantly(like my water temp), but get a gauge that has a peak hold or even a playback.

I have the mickeymouse ears from border and they rock!

johnisenglish 02-06-04 10:07 PM

In my Integra I just used the datalogging function in the AEM EMS. I plan on doing the same with my FD and Haltech E11 once I get it on the road again. I had a ton of gauges and screens in my Integra, but I love the look of the FD's interior WAY to much to do add any gauges then what I already have (Boost and water temp on the A piller and I replaced the stock water temp and oil pressure gauges in the cluster with vdo units for oil pressure and temp)

You have any pictures of your work? I'm cluttered as well, but I managed to stick water temp, oil temp, boost, fuel pressure, oil pressure, exhaust temp, tach/shiftlite, wideband 02 in along with the Commander, stock gauges and my pooh bear keychain for good luck!:D

Yeah, I have dual pumps cause my denso pump was falling off at the upper rpms. I would like to have it sort of as a feul system checkup.

I am not a big fan of the mickey mouse ears. Does anyone make a dual guage steering mount?

twinturborx7pete 02-06-04 10:38 PM

nope, not that i know of... i would put them under the stereo.. there are some that hack the dash and put them over in the passenger side..

or u could be fast and furious.. and do the glovebox...

Glovebox is houses the wideband/datalogit and boost controller, oh well, out with the temp guage.

I found that out as well...the denso pump falls of at the higher rpms. Initially I went with dual stock FD pumps which worked fine with a T62-1 at 15 psi, but when I went to a T-45S at 15 psi, I ran out of fuel again. That's why I'm running dual walboro's now.

I actually was NOT a fan of the mickey mouse ears...I thought it looked like Doo-Doo. BUT, I got mine for fairly cheap and decided to try it out. Now I'm VERY happy to have bought it.

Actually, I was interested in that so i called them (Autometer) on that to check a long time ago. It's not a replacement. It is in fact a cover.

duboisr 02-07-04 01:46 AM

Put a gauge you do not use alot where the cig lighter is . Cutting required and it is not as easy to see .Garfinkle has his EGT down there .He made a ring to conform to the curve in the dash .

felix_is_alive 02-07-04 06:16 AM

what i did , i cut out the a/c temp and position selectors ,i figure my a/c is always at max temp (cold) and i always have it blowing in my face (position) so i cut them out (never used them anyways)... so a/c still works , and now i have 2 new holes for my apexi egt and boost gauge , they fit almost perfect

Does this look just like the regular pods sold by Pettit ect, just with three? Does it fit as good?

PVerdieck 02-07-04 11:26 AM

Why don't you like the center speaker position? The center speaker doesn't provide anything of value. The TriPower/TriPoint dual pod is a quality piece that looks virtually OEM. I have one.

johnisenglish 02-07-04 11:27 AM

They're all technically covers, but they have a nice clean install, so you really can't tell the difference once all the said and done.

jspecracer7:
I didn't take any pictures while I was doing it, but I'll snap a few once I go back home in a few weeks and get to be with my FD again, lol. The stock water temp and oil pressure gauges literally unscrew from the back of the circuit board, and then I dremeled out the portion of the circuit board behind them that I needed to remove for the VDO gauges to install. I hot glued them in place from the back and wired them up, but they look REALLY close to stock, which is exactly what I was going for.

They were VDO Vision gauges, BTW.

Here is a picture of the DIN unit people are referring to:

Can anyone tell me what the part no. is on the panel for the gauges. Or where to get a panel like that?

I've looked at a number of places around here, but haven'y found anything yet....

Thanks.

Sparkey 05-23-04 11:52 AM

you can always rellocate your ac and put some gauges there. never liked that look but its your car.

Nathan Kwok 05-23-04 12:56 PM

Unfortunately that panel is no longer being made, its a Saab part though. There are other similar ones, I know Blitz makes a 43mm panel just like that, you could buy that and enlarge the holes.

PVerdieck 05-23-04 03:05 PM

I have the Autometer triplepod, and am having a huge pain getting it in. The top catch on the stock a-pillar won't engage, but the lower ones are in.

The damn metal locking sleeve isn't engaging, and is just pushing its way down the shaft of the plastic column.

Tripower was going to come out with a replacement a-pillar pod, but they backed out, they didn't think there was enough of a market.

Jesuscookies 05-23-04 04:57 PM

Put it where your rearview mirror adjuster is. That one is going to impress the ladies for sure :D
