RS/RZ pads part number

anyone have the part number for the 99 spec RS/RZ pads, front and rear?

rynberg 05-19-04 11:56 PM

Damian, the fronts are: F1Z4-33-23Z

The rear pads are no longer listed on MazdaMotorsports, I think Mazda is changing the part number.

damian 05-19-04 11:57 PM

hmm, do you have the partn number anyway for the rears so i can reference somthing?

rynberg 05-20-04 12:36 AM

Nope, but Manny (SleepR1) probably does.

damian 05-20-04 12:43 AM

manny where are ya, i need ya man!!!

rotaryextreme 05-20-04 04:01 AM

All you need is me, your closest JDM source. haha...

rear pads: FDY1-26-43ZA

It's the Japanese rear pad part number.

Damian,

I was in the group buy. When I get home I will see what my box said and post the part numbers that are on mine. That may or may not help you.

that would be great, thanks!!!

rotaryextreme 05-20-04 12:39 PM

Yeah, for the larger rear brake. I got the part numbers from a Japanese dealer

I think the pads are the same as the stock rear one though, at least the size is. I don't know if they changed the compound.

thanks chuck, they are the same size, but dif compound and I want the rs/rz compound...thanks!!!!

rotaryextreme 05-20-04 12:47 PM

The part number I gave you was for the RZ/RS brake pads when I asked the Japanese dealer to give me a parts list for the 99 spec rear brakes. I have part numbers of all the components if you need any of them.

If there is really a RS/RZ compound, I doubt they are any better than the Hawks. Most OEM brake pads are jokes. The price for the rear brake pad is 110,000 Yen. Pretty damn expensive if you can't get them from Mazda Comp anymore. Mazda comp can get those pads cheaper than the Japanese list price.

Damian,

damian 05-20-04 04:06 PM

Yup, Chuck's part number is correct for the J-spec Type RS/RZ rear brake pads. FWIW, the Type RS/RZ pad material is different than the US spec pad material. Type RS/RZ is much better for open track--about as good as EBC Green Stuffs. Your experience may vary. I'm very easy on brakes (I brake as little as possible to carry as much speed through the turn as possible).

Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development price for Type RS/RZ pads fr/rr is about the same as EBC Green Stuffs fr/rr too ($131 from Mazdespeed for Type RS/RZ pads, $150 fr/rr for EBC Green Stuffs from Tire Rack).

I get new front/rr Type RS/RZ pad sets from Mazdaspeed Motorsports to get new front caliper M-springs, and shims for both fr/rr--these parts are included with the factory Type RS/RZ pad sets.

Works out to every other set alternate between EBCs and Type RS/RZs LOL.

Does anyone know where to get replacement pads for the RS/RZ 99+ brakes these days besides Mazda Motorsports?

I'd be particularly interested in some EBC greens but haven't found a place that has the correct size in stock.

Thanks.

rynberg 10-02-05 12:21 PM

Alberto,

The '99 brakes use the same pad size as the 93-95 brakes do. I would not be surprised if Mazda is using the same compound for all of their brake pads now, given the way they view parts for these cars.

I'm running the "Rs/Rz" pads at the rear -- they don't dust very much at all, certainly not compared to the HP+ I was running....

7racer 10-02-05 01:45 PM

rynberg,

are you sure. I know the rears are the same but the fronts are different.

damian 10-02-05 05:12 PM

yeah, my understanding is that they were the same size all around, just the rz/rs front calipers are wider for the wider rotor, and the ra/rz rear calipers are placed a bit further out for the larger diameter rear rotors, but the actual pads size never changed. The m spring clips for the front changed since they needed to accomodate the wider caliper.

7racer 10-02-05 07:25 PM

thanks! I'll take a look at a set of hawk hps i have sitting in the garage and rz pads and post back.

Not to be pushy or anything, but anyone know for certain? :)
