rpms climb quickly but car doesnt move as fast

Well lets see if i can describe my problem a little better this time, first off, when i'am in gear lets say in first when i press on the pedal slightly and hold it there my revs keep on climbing, but the speedometer reads at a much lower rate, same with when i shift into other gears i notice that the engine speeds up very quickly with a little tap on the throttle and the rpms climb quickly
but the car sure isnt moving as quick. I just had a new clutch put in and the original flywheel that was machined, so i think it cant be the clutch. Do you think its the midpipe doing this???? any possible diagnoses?:(

How could the midpipe be causing it? Sounds like the clutch. Who installed it for you?

Johnny 04-21-02 06:35 PM

I agree with losttime....how do you figure midpipe...

sounds like clutch to me..slipping

Want2race 04-21-02 06:36 PM

sounds like a glazed clutch!

Did you break-in the clutch properly?

user 84205 04-21-02 07:05 PM

clutch... You put in the correct type right? You guys have the push and pull style in the states right?
good luck.....

user 84205 04-21-02 07:06 PM

did you remember to put in the bearing hahaha.. Im sorry I got laid this morning, so Im in a great mood

jboncher 04-21-02 07:16 PM

did you take the alignment pins out before you had the flywheel machined? if not the pressure plate won't be able to hold onto the clutch properly

Ryan95 04-21-02 09:44 PM

Definitly a clutch problem.
Did you break in the new clutch?

RotaryRockeTT 04-21-02 09:45 PM

What do you have to do to break in the clutch?

spoolin 04-21-02 10:08 PM

just like brakes....easy driving for a few hundred miles. no hard starts/launches--match revs when downshifting. jboncher has it right. pull the pins and machine where the plate mounts to the flywheel. most people ( well, the guy who does my flywheels) measure the distance of the stepdown from where the pressure plate mounts to where the disc surface is. keep the ratio the same and you should not have the problem that you do. sorry dude....pull it and check

I had the clutch installed by wolfes mazda, the only place where is shouldnt have gone to get the clutch installed in the first place, but anyway i have a one year warrantyl on the clutch, the clutch grabs fine, but i have a one year warranty on the clutch, do you think i can get them to open it up with out labour charges? because i have the warranty on it?

mightyslash 04-21-02 11:22 PM

If it grabs hard, then it should be fine.
