Rough Idle--Idle "Rolls", 2000 rpm, etc

I cannot figure out my idle situation. It idles around 2k rpm., but the whole time that it idles, it idle rolls. It idles at like 2k, but it will go down to 1800 then bounce back up, and then go to like 2100, and go down to around 1800 again, and vice versa.

I tried messing with the idle screws and I was able to lower the idle speed, but that just made it worse because it would roll like 500 rpms then.

TPS?

Again, I am new to this car.

vacuum leak probably under your UIM

ok. uim is upper intake manifold I assume??

Also, is there supposed to be a gasket between throttle body and intake piping?

There isn't a gasket there, but an o-ring that goes between the intake elbow and throttle body. However, that is after the throttle plates so that wouldn't cause an idle problem.

You said you are new to the car, did you buy the car like this?

Does the car have a vacuum/boost gauge installed?

Yes, UIM is upper intake manifold LIM... isn't hard to figure out. You catch on quick so this should be relatively painless. Much of the things that will be wrong with a mildly modded 7 will be a result of the vacuum line foolery in the rats nest below the UIM. Before you get flamed you should probably read the stickies.

You may have a bad clutch switch. Check under the clutch pedal. There is a switch that is pressed in when the pedal is depressed. When not depressed, the white "piston" should stick out at least 1/2". Can be fixed easily by taking it apart, and replacing the spring with a common pen spring.

TPS may also need adjustment.
