rough idle/dies under load/leaking fuel under load

I think i might have blown a fuel line, i believe its the feed line, but i wanted to get your guys opinion first, i recently installed a walbro 255, it ran fine for like 4-5 days, then driving down the road it started to sputter and died. sat there for a few hours trying to figure it out, got it to sputter to the gas station down the road, didnt have a choice, and the guy following me said i was leaking fuel going down the road, got to the gas station and its running down the front driver side of the tank, took off the fuel pump cover in the hatch, and theres no fuel that i could see coming from the inlet/outlet of the tank, which is why i think it might be a hole in the line. any ideas guys?

i tried priming the fuel pump and didnt notice any fuel leaking, left the pump running about 5-10 minutes, tried to start it, idled lumpy for about 10sec then died, noticed some white smoke out of the exhaust, there always has been a little bit on start up, but it seems more than normal, coolant levels are fine, and temps seemed fine when i was driving.

What do you mean by front driver side of the tank when you saw it leaking from there?

right were the fuel lines come out from above the tank, it was leaking down the front side right there, it doesnt seem to be doing that anymore though, i just went out and let it idle up to not, and no leaking fuel, although it did idle between 850 and 450, and would pulse it would go up around 750-850 and wabble between there for like 2 seconds then drop down to around 450-500 for like 3/4 of a second then go back up to 750-850 and wabble around there and just repeated that for the whole time, it did stall out once or twice, but it started right back up, as good as it can right now, any throttle at all though and it dies. even the slightest tap, i did once get it up around 1200 but i had to move it it slower than you can imagine.

i did rule out the coolant seals though cuz theres only white smoke on startup, probably the same ammount as always, just never noticed it, so were back to a fuel problem!

on yea and the clutch on me a/c compresser goes on and off randomly, even with the fan off and the ac switch off

Any highlighted voltages showing up on the PFC switches? What about when you try to give it gas? Tried putting the stock fuel pump back in? Maybe something is blocking the fuel sock?

Tim

try giving it gas it dies, no highlighted voltages on the PFC, checked the voltages against the FSM and they're all in check. this sucks because i was supposed to take my car to hIN this weekend. Ill check the pump though

ok just got back. i pulled the fuel pump, nothing blocking the sock, so sediment or anything at all at the bottom of the tank. primed the pump, and you can feel the fuel pumping through the feed line, and i can hear it running, so the pumps working, any other ideas guys?

check the engine fuse with ur asortment of fuses.... should be at least a 30 amp.... it probably popped when ur car died.... also make sure that all the connections on the actually pump including the ground are snug.... as far as the leak.. get some fuel line and fix it.... lastly are u sure it ran fine when u first put the pump in??? if not, u might have crossed fuel inlet and fuel return lines....

RotorDream 07-10-08 03:37 AM

ill go check all the fuses, but would that cause all the symptoms? everything else works fine. the leaks gone now, atleast i cant find it. the connections on the pump are good, soldered and heat shrinked, and i drove around on the city streets and interstate on the new pump for a few weeks with no problems.

Try reinstalling the stock pump?

RotorDream 08-02-08 01:43 PM

ok i just reinstalled the stock pump, just need to get a jump, since the batterys dead

RotorDream 09-11-08 12:31 AM

alright i got it fixed!, thanks for all the help guys(sarcastic, just fyi)!:wtf: it turned out to be a busted fuel line causing the leak which i fixed and fouled plugs causing it not to run. I left the walbro in
