I have no experience with Rotary Works...

But if you are looking for a V-mount kit for your FD, I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Rotary Extreme's kit. I recently purchased & installed their single turbo "track" kit and I couldn't be happier with it. I have yet to see how it performs as my GT35r project is still being wrapped up. However, the kit's fitment & quality was second to NONE! The provisions to easily keep A/C and the addition of a PS cooler are a few of the great components. Not to mention that EVERY piece is polished & looks gorgeous!

Their kit is excellent quality & Ben's customer service is nothing but INCREDIBLE!!

It will be getting much praise when my build thread goes up. Here is a picture of it installed....

A teaser if you will ;)

I bought just their vmount radiator and am pleased. For the price it wasn't to far off having my koyo modified and it is much thicker. It has mounts to retain factory fan setup.

serbRX7 10-16-10 09:00 PM

plz post up only about rotary-works

Rotary Extreme nice stuff but they are just lil bit overpriced in my opinion

i do not run AP, PS or A/C

rotary-works price of 900$ for v-mount is not to bad

XLR8 10-16-10 09:09 PM

No worries.

Went on the website and it seems really good
I was gonna get the vkit from rx7store but now I think I'm gonna give rotaryworks a call
I say op buy it and cine share the experience

oo7arkman 10-17-10 08:59 AM

I saw this on their website the other day. It looks pretty decent and especially for the price.

I do not have their v-mount kit, but I did purchase some oil coolers from them and I have been very pleased so far. Quality was excellent.

Twins80s 10-17-10 09:19 AM

if it is anything like their kit for the 2nd gen I would look else where. I had their kit on my 2nd gen and it was far from a complete kit.. They also had the lower radiator neck mounted so low. It was the lowest part on my car, and it scraped on speed bumps.....no exactly what you want to have happening alot.

e46m3smg 10-17-10 09:17 PM

Both necks are on top of the fd setup, the only thing on the bottom of their radiator is the drain and at the angle I mocked mine up at it wasn't any lower than the bottom tank

yea i have seen your thread about that...it looked really bad

i see you managed to fix the problem it looks nice

fd mounting brackets are much simpler then the setup you got for FC

and both rad necks are on top of rad.....

could you take some pic of your setup

e46m3smg 10-17-10 11:04 PM

Only the ic is mounted right Now the rad is just temp in place I am going a slightly different route and trying to incorporate a fresh air to the turbo. Once things get closer I will add pics here and on my build thread.

serbRX7 03-01-11 12:46 PM

ok i have purchased rotary works v-mount kit and will be installing it soon

just got the intercooler and the brackets in today still waiting for rad

intercooler looks good...brackets - good...piping - good will take some fitting do to my turbo sitting much higher do to exhaust manifold...but i think it would work perfect with HKS manifold....SQV bov - i do not think its hks - i think its just cheap replica but i will test it out see if it works - but i will go with my 50mm TIAL bov regardless .... check out my build thread for progress...

here is quick mock up PIC

my Build Thread

I am subscribing to this thread to see the outcome of this kit since there was a build thread before with many problems. I'm hoping they saw and corrected their mistakes.

rad cam in this morning ..you can see all the mounting tabs in the pic looks good it meant to be used with stock fan...

i will need to weld up a nipple at the top of the rad as i do not run AST..

its cold up here in rochester ny so as soon as i get a warm day i will install it...

Buy the silicone coupler that downsizes instead of fabbing one

some people cut the greddy elbow where it's 3" and weld a lip on it.

rx7rcer09 03-03-11 01:19 PM

any updates?

serbRX7 03-05-11 07:20 PM

worked on it lil bit today

mostly on mocking up the rad with brackets and modifying the fans lil bit to fit on the rad

there is going to be some cutting needed for the fans to work...nothing to hard or difficult for any one to do...

so far everything fits no problems...brackets are simple and easy to install...i did need to go out and get some bolts and washers...

i just need to relocate my AEM water injection , reclock turbo and to put under-tray back on

here is the link to more pic

looks promising keep us posted :)

Bump.

Any updates? I'm very interested in getting this kit soon, looks like its been coming together smoothly so far

Gringo Grande 04-06-11 12:05 PM

I'd take a look at the Defined Autoworks V-mount instead. Seems to be a better unit with better Quality Control and business ownership: https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-product-dev-fd-rx-7-269/defined-autoworks-v-mount-kit-here-948176/

its coming along ok...i just didnt have much time lately to work on the car...

there are some modifications needed...as the one with the radiator fans...

one of the IC brackets will need to be grinded down lil bit in one section...nothing to complicated ...

only problem i see is - radiator hose might be lil to close to the engine oil cooler lines looks like it might rub (didn't test ).... way around it would be welding in a 90 degree aluminum elbow or get after market single or dual oil coolers upgrade...with AN lines there will be more then enough room...

i do not run a/c .....if you wanna keep you a/c you would need to make up your own brackets.... will complicate things lil bit...

as soon as i get done with my instal i will post up instructions with PIC and materials needed

serbRX7 04-10-11 07:38 PM

worked on the car lil bit today

still waiting on my Rad hose...but here is the pic...so you can see how close the Rad outlet is to oil cooler lines...
http://memberfiles.freewebs.com/61/8...409_192621.jpg

her is the pic of the bracket and where it needs to be grinded down (from the mark on the left to mark on the right ..)
http://memberfiles.freewebs.com/61/8...409_165855.jpg

i am doing my own piping on driver side as i will use TIAL 50mm bov and not the bov that was in the kit...
http://memberfiles.freewebs.com/61/8...409_192518.jpg

serbRX7 04-10-11 07:48 PM

in this pic u can see i will have enough room to run some cold air to the turbo intake

I'm leaning towards that kit now...I can't get a reply back from Rotary-Works after e-mailing them questions about their kit.

serbRX7, your project seems to be coming along nice, that's too bad that you're not able to use the piping that came in the kit because of the dumb flange that comes pre-welded on it for an HKS bov. I too was wanting to go with a tial

thanks man

originally i called them up and asked them if i can just get intercooler and radiator with brackets...as i didn't want that fake hks bov or the piping...they told me no...so i do not think they make the kit they just sell it

but if you can make your own brackets
they do sell that intercooler (300$) and radiator (250$) separately

shmacklepap 04-11-11 12:58 PM

Those were my main question I had emailed them about, with no response.

I'm not too good at any custom fabrication, so I think I'm going to research more about the Defined-Autoworks kit.

serbRX7 04-18-11 10:08 PM

as you can see in the pic and after a try the rad hose wont fit with stock oil line
http://memberfiles.freewebs.com/61/8...409_192621.jpg

so plan is to install dual oil coolers setup ....much needed as the stock oil cooler is really beat up...or at least that's what i tell my self

lower rad hose will need to be cut and you will need radiator hose connector... as the hose will need to be extended lil bit... i found a connector at this link its 1.5"x6" unit ... i think it might be bit to long ...will have to take some more measurements.....

but if you know anyone that's selling 4" or 5" unit let me know...

They are just super busy, right now defined only has 2 people on and a bunch of projects with an event coming up soon. Im sure he will get back to you as soon as he can.

I just ordered a v-mount from them. When I get it in a couple weeks ill try and make a review thread. So far im soooper pumped

serbRX7 05-08-11 10:51 PM

i managed to install the RAD hose with stock oil cooler...

you just need to unbolt the lower oil line and move the hose down as far as it can go and then tighten the bolt...gives it some room...

almost done ....thing i got left to do

fuse box relocation -- still trying to work out where to place it
need to extend wires to rad fans
welding in TIAL bov
and a bracket for methanol pump in A/C location

i didnt have much problems instaling the kit
some grinding and cutting and relocating some components
aditional bolts and nuts are needed and radiator hose
expect 100-200$ in installation with hiden cost
i must have whent out to auto zone 15 -20 times

but my main complaint is with intercooler piping and fake sqv bov and that just makes the kit not worth buying...
as you can see i still got the kit but thats just becouse i had extra piping and Tial bov on hand that i could use....

for undertray to fit with stock fans - get propane torch and heat up 3 metal studs and it comes right of -
