Rotary Performance Traction Kit
 

Has anyone tried this kit from Rotary Performance. It is about $500 and claims to be provide better drag-type launches as well as track racing. This is what they say about it:

Anyone have any experience with this kit? Feedback? Is the price right or can I get it cheaper elsewhere? How good is it for street and track/autocross driving?

i didn't know that RP offers the often hard to find but essential Differential Bushings. (there are lots of FD owners looking for them...)

there are 2 sets of bushings that any modded FD needs to replace regardless of condition.

they are the big rubber bushing on the front of the rear longitudinal lower link and the (ditto) upper differential bushings.

all braking and acceleration force goes thru the lower link and if it has any give you get toe in or toe out. both are evil.

if you place a jack under the diff you will note that the diff moves almost an inch up before the car starts rising. can you say axle bounce and broken rear gears...

Rotary Performance offers the "RP Base traction kit" which includes a tubular link w a rod end to replace the big rubber bushing and nylon diff bushings for $280.)

they also offer replacement toe links that use rod ends... there is debate if they are needed or if the OEM item is o k. i run the OEM links but if they were worn to the point of making noise i would replace them w the RP setup. they are the other item that controls toe so there should be no compliance in this link. the links sell for $230 or if you add them in the super duper all inclusive package the tab is $490. (i am rounding the pennies.)

since Ari Yellen (Rotary Performance) is known for his major FD drag racing accomplishments it might be easy to think... you don't need this stuff as you don't go to the strip.

all aggressively driven modded FDs need at least the basic package. there were a couple of design deficiencies in the bushing area. you can set zero rear toe on a super alignment machine but as soon as you get on the gas or brakes you can kiss that setting goodby unless you have replaced the lower link bushings.

the lower links carry no vehicle weight so they don't effect NVH. the diff bushings do insulate a bit of driveline noise so you will get a modest pickup but nothing obtrusive.

essential stuff for the modded FD, i am glad it is available from one of our better vendors.

Howard, they list the diff. bushings as being solid composite. What do you think that will do to the ride comfort once installed since the stockers are liquid filled?

diff bushings don't support the chassis so it will have no effect on ride. they do transmit a modest amount of driveline noise. modest.

There was a small increase when i added mine, but i don't even notice it anymore. Everything on my car is loud anyway.

Wow, the great Howard Coleman replied to my post! I'm gland that I could hep out.

I have been purchasing parts from RP since 2000 and have had them tune my car twice. They do very good quality work and have great customer service.

So, it is pretty much decided that part of my tax return will be going to upgrading my suspension with some good RP parts.

One last question, what about the trailing arms that they sell? Any advantage to getting these? Feedback on them? Thanks!
