rotary experts please help

 i took my uim off to polish it. put it back together and now the car seems to be possessed. the car ran nice and smooth with a smooth idle before the pre-bling. Now the thing is going nuts.....it's like a machine gun. the engine actually vibrates???? the map sensor is still connected....i double checked everything else. i did notice that there is a slight play....actually alot in the second cable that is connected to the throttle body. the main throttle body cable is nice and tight but the secondary throttle calble plate assembly has play. is this causing my problems? do i need to adjust the throttle positioning screw? i actually drove the car....it runs fine when i am driving it but when it idles it just goes nuts. i am lost as shit.... i have taken the uim off before w/o problems. thanks in advance. kvn

oh yeah.....forgot a couple of things. the car had been down for at least two weeks. it was cold as hell about 15 degrees and there was a lot of white smoke at start up. i usually get a lot of smoke but it goes away pretty quickly and it stinks. it doesn't smell sweet. kvn

And you replaced the plenum to lower intake manifold gasket and throttle body gasket, right?

clayne 01-21-04 11:23 PM

How about the ISC solenoid gasket, as well?

93BlackFD 01-21-04 11:51 PM

yes, sounds gasket related

93 R1 01-22-04 07:39 AM

Did you mess with any of the adjustment screws?

TwinTurbo93 01-22-04 08:50 AM

It could be gasket related but to me it sounds like electric connector is not properly hooket up, double check those connections under the UIM that may be it.

i reused the gasket between the uim and lim. there were no gaskets between the tb and the uim. i never had one to begin with. is there suppose to be one. i connected all the electrical connectors. i might just rip it back apart and see what the f is going on tomorrow. what about the play in the second throttle cable...the one that's behind the thrttole cable. thanks kvn

There is definitely a gasket between the UIM and the throttle body. It is a metal gasket. There is also an O-ring seal between the throttle body and the intake pipe.

opps, i meant i have a gasket between the uim and tb. but nothing between the tb and the greddy elbow. kvn

I take that back. It may not be metal, but there is definitely a gasket.

I have the Greddy elbow and I still use the O-ring seal on the throttle body.
