so i am looking too have a fun decentley high horse power car for the street and some track use more of something too take pride in and not abuse too hard. what would be the best engine for this from http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/28.htm they are not too expenvie and i got guys that have no problem getting it in the car again. the sue of this car would be mostly fun just for a day off work take it out and enjoy the city in it get up too the limmit fast ect mabey hit the ocasional 1/4 mile. also can some one explane the difernces betwen the stuff done too each engine they dont say much about it and i have very little experance with a rotary engine

Many people will do streetport engine as there has been plenty of discussion about there being little to no hp improvement between a half-bridged and streetport, but we will not get into those arguments, but if you look around, most people are running streetported setups.

I'm not knocking the RX7Store, as they do some good work. However, you should at least call some shops and talk to them about your goals. Some other shops to consider:

RX7store built my motor in 04 with a street port, car starts every time and has zero issues. i would call Zavier and talk to him about your goals.

If you need your engine rebuilt, then of course you should consider a street port. However, if you are just looking for more power, porting the engine and installing it with all stock components is not going to yield you much more HP. For instance we can build you an engine that is capable of producing 600-700+ hp but if you do not have the proper supporting mods you will not get anywhere near that. To properly modify the car every system needs to be upgraded.

If your engine does not need rebuilding and has been determined to be in overall good health, then your money is better spent on reliability and performance mods. All the parts that you would need to buy even if you have the engine rebuilt. It is relatively easy to put together a 300+ rwhp car on the stock engine, with simple bolt-on mods and tuning.

It does not sound like you are looking for a 500+ hp car. Installation of a PFC, exhaust, intake, IC, clutch and basic reliability mods such as radiator, AST, fuel pump, etc and you will have a "fun decently high horse power car for the street and some track" with over 300 hp.

Point is regardless of engine porting you are still going to need to upgrade all the other components to get the power out of the car.

I offer prebuilt blocks where you dont have to worry about shipping your own engine two ways. Price starts at around $3100.00 shipped to Canada(depending location) and I replace every seal, spring, o-ring in the engine with the exception of the actual metal oil control rings themselves and their springs.($250.00 extra if you want them replaced). Bearings are an additional $200.00 for new rotor and stationary gear bearings.

I use 2mm 2 piece ALS apex seals and a street port is included in that price if you desire.

However :), if you are in a rush please look at one of the above mentioned vendors and all are great companies and good people as it would be near May before I could have a block ready to ship. Good luck in whatever you decide.

What is "relatively high-horsepower" to you? Most everyone has a different idea of this. Not to mention as light and as well-balanced the FDRX7 is, a 300-350whp car is pretty damn quick and loads of fun to drive around town.

You have so much research to do I don't think you realize it. Do you wish to accomplish this on factory twin turbos? Single turbo? Is your current engine blown? What type of track events? AutoX? Time attack? Drag?

There are many ways to get to power goals. The twins are great for driving around town and autoX events. A properly set up single turbo is ok on the street and good for time attack events.
