Room circuit short with low amperage
 

Having an issue with the room fuse circuit (already searched through existing threads) where the fuse blows the instant it is placed into the joint box.
When I probe the jointbox with a multimeter it shows an average draw of 0.354 A which makes no sense especially since the room circuit is 10A.
I went through wiring diagram and disconnected everything on the circuit one by one to see of there was any change in amperage but no luck and everything I tested has continuity (measured by grounding the neg terminal of a multimeter and using a n alligator clip and long primary wire on the positive terminal of the multimeter to test each item on the circuit)

Engine is running ok but things like the dome lights, hatch lights, radio and trip computer dont work.

anyone deal with something similar?
The big thing that doesnt make sense is that it's only pulling less than 1/2 A draw yet still blowing the instant it is replaced

Fuses can blow due to too much load or a short to ground. Most likely you have something shorting out.

Typically the problem lies wherever there are aftermarket electronics wired in. The factory harness rarely has a problem unless the harness is damaged somewhere and rubbing against the frame and shorting to ground.

Didn't end up finding a definitive answer to my problem but I found a couple problems.

I'm running 6.5” component speakers up front with the tweeters mounted in the a pillars and the crossovers mounted in the door. One of the wires came out of the crossover and was making contact with the door which could have caused it but i doubt it.

The main thing I found was the audio relay was HEAVILY corroded inside of the relay - big ball of rust that was most likely causing the short.

Fixing the speaker cable and removing the relay solved my issue and my battery drain problems. Just wanted to share.
