First thing...your car sitting in hot weather is a good start, but head guns put out quite a bit more heat than 115F. Probably would have been a good idea to use one.

Secondly, re: your wheels, 235/40/17 isn't "stock", and I'm assuming that you have lowered your ride, which all adds up to mean that you're doing something that probably wasn't originally intended. Even if you're not lowered (mine isn't, and i'm running stock wheels and tires, and I still get rub in the front when hitting certain types of bumps/dips at speed), chances are that it's not near what the stock size was :/

Rolling the fenders has been the time tested way of fixing the problems of lowered cars + aftermarket wheels + bigger tires...sounds like you just got unlucky. Sorry bro :(

old thread to bump but today i tried rolling my fenders with a steel pipe. didn't work out. its tough to do, and i found out my fender had a lot of bondo/filler covering it. it fell apart like a cracked egg shell. :rlaugh:

I think harbor frieght sells a cheapo fender roller. It'll break if you adjust it a bunch, but it works excelent. We have one in the shop I work at. Had to modify it a lot to make it reliable after multiple adjustements, but it gets the job done perfect. I dont know why people do the bat method. Ive never seen a single one thats looked perfect, and Im a perfectionist when it comes to this car.

Agreed. I've never saw a "bat method" flare job that didnt look like crap up close. Especially in comparison to a "tool" flare job.

I had my fenders rolled & pulled out about 5mm. Just used an Eastwood fender rolling tool for the job. Be sure and heat the fenders though cause the stock paint chips/flakes a lot during rolling.
