ReSpeed oil pedestal
i finally decided on my third gauge, oil temp....did some reading around and from the help of a few members...i decided to get the respeed oil pedestal...

any special method to put it on? from the top, bottom, etc..

the install was done all from the top of the car...
--i drained the oil.... --unbolted the banjo bolt(oil feed line)(forget what size it was,sorry) --unbolted the two bottom nuts, (10mm) the left one with a ratchet, right one i couldn't get a ratchet on, had to use the open end of a box wrench... --old one comes right off... --respeed gives you new hardware (nuts, rubber O-ring/washer, etc...) --i used a little dab of high temp gasket silicone, to hold the new rubber washers into place (there located on the bottom of the pedestal)....respeed suppled these also -- i finger tighted the new nuts, (left side is easy) (right side little harder to get,tight place for your fingers) i dropped it a few times but ended up getting it on... --before you tight the nuts on the bottom all the way down start the banjo bolt, so it can line up...(the pedestal has a little play back and forth) --i tighted the banjo bolt all the way down(can't remember the tq spec) --then tighted down the bottom nuts --your all done, add your gauge sender, or plug(i only needed one hole) respeed puts two sender holes in it..... brad |
unfortunatly the center post on my pedistal ( the one that holds the filter on) broke off while I was driving the car!!! You can imagine what that looked like....Luckily my low oil light works. Any, I hope nothing like that happens with yours. Too bad all I got back was the money for the pedistal, should have charged for the time I had to spend on cleanup, removal and reinstall.

I believe so. I thought that they fixed it by welding around the base of the post, but it doesn't look like his has those welds.

Hey Dan, I have one on my engine now too. I had forgotten about that mess you ran into with yours. You say that the corrected one should be welded around the post? I'll have to check mine. Were there are other guys who ran into problems with that part failing?

I think after mine came up most people sent theirs back to get the fix. I'm not certain that they welded around the post, but I thought thats what they did to fix the problem....or they increased the thickness of the metal where the post is pressed/threaded into the pedistal. I can't remember what the offical word was. If you haven't had any problems with it yet, you should be fine. Mine failed shortly aftetr I installed it. |
i never saw that post about the problem you had...
mine isn't welded at the base... looks thick enough, and strong enough ...how the hell did it just snap...(thats crazy) brad |
I haven't cranked the motor yet so I don't know. I'll just run it and hope it doesn't become a problem. I just bought mine about two weeks ago so I'll assume that the new ones have been worked out.

here is all the info you need. I don't even know if these are manufactured by the same company, but I'm gussing they are...

bought mine about 3 weeks ago,so were probable the same batch, im still waiting on plug wires, and vac. hoses ....and i'll post back little while after i get her running...

The RESPEED ones are only 2 parts, the main and the side post that is welded onto the main, the center post is not a extra part like the old ones that where screwed into the base.
SO THE RESPEED ARE GREAT I had my frist one (long ago) blow apart on my car also, holy god that was a mess |

Some additional tips:
- The banjo bolt is 23mm. - Taking off the oil pressure sender will give you additional room to work with. |
