With respect to 5th gear!

Any recommendations on a short shifter for my RX-7? I value keeping my tranny intact.

I heard the Miata shifter works well, or B&M, or ???

What works the best for the cost? (other than taking a hacksaw to the shifter...)

regards

Maybe you should try C's short throw shifter. I heard they're unmatched. Just check out they're price tag.

look....actual experience with both

Used both, prefer the B&M....now. At first C's seemed smoother. Living with the B&M has changed my mind.

A lighter flywheel keeps you from miss-shifting too quick into 3rd with either one...but more noticable for me with the B&M. With the lighter flywheel...again prefer B&M.

Expect noise with both. Small price for the added precision.

Hi Rick.

I have a Mazdaspeed Short Shifter and absolutely love it.

I have no problems misshifting. I have a friend, white car below, who has a Mazdatrix short shift and he has problems and is sometimes doign 1-2-5 shifts always missing 3rd.

I've never miss shifts like that. However, the shifter requires a little more muscle to shift so your wife might not like that since she drives it daily.

BTW: I was behind a yellow 996tt today in Alhambra, no plates, was that you?
