replaced o2 sensor, check engine light came on

I replaced the o2 sensor about a month ago and my check engine light came on last week. I replaced it with a wagner(i think). I did th ecode check and got the o2 ensor code.

My question is, is there a way I can test tne o2 sensor to see if it is bad? I checked all the conections and everything is fine. What could be the problem.
Thanks for the help

The '93 service manual says the O2 sensor should read 0 to 0.4 volts when engine RPMs are decreasing, and 0.5 to 1 volt when RPMs are increasing. They're just talking about revving the engine and watching the voltmeter. To do that test, you disconnect the sensor at its connector, and connect a voltmeter between the sensor and ground.

Oh, also, make sure the engine is good and warmed up before you do the voltmeter test.

I believe it's possible for an O2 sensor to get carboned up pretty quickly if you're running rich. Are you running rich?

OrangeFD, Thanks I am going to test it tonight. Yes my car is running rich, but I can't figure out why. This is one of the reasons that I replaced the o2 sensor. I have asked this question many times on the forum and no one has been able to help me. If you have any ideas of why my car runs rich let me know.

Thanks
Jon
