replace o-rings on injectors?

Just about to reinstall the fuel rail after doing the Banzai fuel puls. damper elimination. The FSM says replace all the o-rings. Mine looked great, car has 40k miles and has never been apart. If it is necessary I will replace them but if it is unlikely that I'll have an issue than I won't worry about it. I would appreciate any advice from some of you veterans that have been down this road before. Is there anything else I should do while I have this all apart. Already doing the vac lines....

I would replace it if you already removed the injectors. I don't think it will cost too much for the o-rings, better safe then sorry. You might even be able to ask a Vendor who sells, them to put them in a regular envelope for 44 cents instead of paying 5+ dollars from USPS

You may be able to go to the hardware store and ask for o-rings from another model that uses sidefeed injectors. 2005 STi and 2005 Legacy GT injectors look exactly like that. SR20 injectors are like that too, which came in the US on Infiniti G20 models and 200SX SE-R. I know there are others.

Be sure to spread a drop of oil on each of the orings when reinstalling the injectors. (Dry installation can lead to oring abrasions and leaks.)

Thanks for the replies. I got a set of 8 injector o-rings from rotary performance. $16 seemed very reasonable. Will use a drop of oil. I only had to remove two of the injectors, should I bother with replacing the rings on the injectors I did not remove? I would not think since they were not removed but I have to ask.

Condition of O-rings is not just about appearance but also about the flexibility of the rubber. Injector O-rings should bend easily and show no cracks but they should be nice and firm. The cross-section of the o-ring should be exactly round with no flats. If you press your fingernail into one it should resemble a superball in firmness.

40k in a stock engine block is nothing to sneeze at. The temperatures are high enough to attack even a premium o-ring material. It's good that you replaced them.

As for the other injectors, if you think you can remove them without undue force or damage to them, I'd do so. But injectors are fickle things and if you find it challenging it's better to leave alone than do other damage.
