Replace apex seals with CERAMIC instead of REPLACING engine???

Replace apex seals with CERAMIC instead of REPLACING engine???

I heard that usually the apex seals on the rotaries go and that's why the engine needs to be replaced. Then I heard that instead of replacing the engines you can "simply" replace the apex seals with ceramic ones. Any truth to this??? Is it better or as good as a new engine??? Any cheaper???

blowing a apex seal doesnt mean you need to replace a complete motor.Sometimes when apex seals blow,it might not damage nothing(lucky!),other times it will usually score the rotor housing and possibly side housing...also your exhaust turbine wheel if its a turbo,it all depends how bad the seal broke.
The least youll have is a half good motor.Also if rotors are damaged ,you can get them machined for 3mm seals.
And the ceramic seals are not cheap and not needed for your application.

2mm ceramic apex seals can be put in for just a little more then 3 mm seals when you factor in the cost of milling out the rotors and they are a far superior part.

thanks man. I'm not in need, yet. Hope I don't even get there but wanted to explore the options. Wish these engines lasted forever, but, oh well!

Still, waitin' for my ride to come. Havin' it inspected on Sat. If everything goes well will pick it up in a weeeekkk!!! Yeeeehaaa!!!

Just to clarify, because I think you might not be clear on it, ceramic seals have nothing to do with not having to replace an engine. If you need to replace your engine, you need to replace your engine, the choice to use ceramic seals isn't going to alter that need. Ceramic apex seals are just an alternative to iron apex seals used in the stock engine. If you ever need a rebuild then you have that choice. They have superior wear and friction characteristics. The degree to which you need to "replace your engine", which is to say, "how much of the engine needs to be replaced" isn't helped by using ceramic seals. Actually, when a ceramic seal breaks, it will actually cause more damage to the engine than an iron seal, because it will shatter and embed itself in the rotor housing, destroying it, while an iron seal may not. The upside to this is, if you treat your engine right, ceramic seals will probably last a long, long time. Good luck with the new car.
