Removing the sunroof

Without getting into too much detail I NEED more headroom for going to the track. Looked in the shop manual and it looks simple enough to remove. The problem is putting the roof panel back in. Also it looks like an R1 headliner would not fit. Keep in mind that I don't want the removal to be permenant at this point.

I have a 9000mi engine and turbos done by Tri Point 700mi clutch and that would be hard to find in an R1 or 2 to replace my car. Not only that I already tried to sell it once and got almost no respnose in 3 months. is $18,000 too much to ask? Then I woud have to find a good R1 and pay tax and licencing and that eats away at my other upgrade money. Kind of a vicious little catch 22 I have going.

So the real question is has anyone removed their sunroof and how was it done?

Just curious, why go through that much trouble when you could get some aftermarket seats that will give you some more head room, or mount the seats to the floor board?

I have a Sparco Rev seat that is mounted almost as low as possible. I could get maybe another half inch but that won't get it. I also have to pull the seat cusion out when I have the helmet on and I still have to slouch low enough that the lap belts cross over my stomach instead of my waist. Also it keeps me from being able to use a crotch belt because my butt is over the opening for that. My brother who is the same size as me has an R1 and fits with no hastle in the same kind of seat.

As much as I hate to admit it I may just have to find an R1 or some other kind of car to take to the track. R1s with low enough miles are hard to find.

Yep, if you've already tried aftermarket seats, then it would be a better idea to locate a Base or R model.

You just need a model without a sunroof, so a Base would work as well.
