removing heatshield for dp,mp
 

does anybody have any suggestions on removing the heat shield??? Tommorow I will try to put my dp, and mp on but im having doubts about it because when I was installing my exhaust I had to take to a local muffler shop to get the right bolt off.. any sugg

yea soak the bolts w/wd-40 and wrench th ehell out of them. If they are super tight the stud will probably come all the way out. Your DP should have came with it's own studs.

The heat shield covering the front flange of the DP will most likely not come off. You'll just have to soak the DP bolts with WD 40 with the heat shield on. The heat shield comes off with the DP together.

Give the WD 40 a few hours or even over night to loosen the bolts. Keep spaying the bolts every few hrs too.

Be extremely careful when you take out the bolts. If you use too much force and break the studs, you're royally screwed and will have to take the manifold off.

Put some anti seize on the studs and bolts when you install everything together. Take your time and don't rush the job.

BTW, I hope you have a DP that doesn't require stud removal. Some studs do come off itself but it's not fun when you have to do it bc the studs are in such obsecure places, the top rear one can't even be seen.

Take it to a rotary shop if you don't want to do it. Most muffler shop aren't familar with the possible stud complication and if they break it, you'll be looking at another $500+ of labor.
