removing front hub.19mm bolt!
 

ok well i have pulled a few engines now. and still dont have a 19mm socket with a gun small enough/ big enough to get the 19mm front hub bolt off. either my guns are too big to not fit a 19mm or my smaller guns dont have the power.
everytime i remove this bolt.. its always a different way. so right now i have a bare block. i am using my floor jacks full handle as leverage. and i have blocked the flywheel agaisnt the ground.. now my problem is when i push on the handle the engine just lifts up. i even had my 250lb friend stand on my block than i pushed.. and i was still just lifintg him up. whats the correct way to do this. besides a air gun with 19mm socket.

good luck sitting it on the floor, two of us were on it and it wouldn't budge. it took an impact gun with 500 lb/ft to get that bolt out. i think that'll be your best bet, regardless. air compressors cost money, but i have to say mine was a great investment, i use it all the time.

I hit mine square on the head with a hammer.

Came right off...and this is after trying everything known to man beforehand!

A long breaker bar and a friend to steady the engine is the best way to go. Instead of a bar bolted to the flywheel, get a piece of chain, attach one end to the flywheel where the pressure plate bolts on and the other end to the rear iron housing to one of the tranny bolt holes. Thread both bolts in as far as they'll go, and you may want to use extra bolts in case you break or bend one.

With that done, hit it with the breaker bar. Using a bar bolted to the flywheel doesn't work well - you end up losing a lot of power pushing the motor up against the floor.

It's even easier if you have an engine stand. I took a motor apart this weekend - bolted the chain on, put my breaker bar on the front pulley, done in 20 seconds.

i think iam just going to go buy a gun.1/2 inlet 500ft lbs of tq. i have two other ones they just cant do the job. iall put it up on the engine stand and try that.. i though it would have been tougher to do it up on there. i tried smacking it with many hammers in many different angles + positions.

( i thought with it on the stand. i would just move the stand ) usually i just use a 2-3 ft breaker bar and block the flywheel and have a pal stand on the engine.. i just took two off of other engines within 2-3 weeks of this.. i mean geez.

a 2meter bar always does the trick with me. Just make sure you soke it with lubrcant 2 days in advance. A little heating round the nut can help as well.

If you are going to be taking quite a few engines apart, there is no reason not to spend a few bucks on a flywheel stopper:

As for the e-shaft bolt, here are a few suggestions:

1. Use an impact and turn it to tigtening first. Hit it, and then reverse it to try and take it off. Sometimes trying to tighten it can losen it up to come off.

2. A little heat can help

I've always use a breaker bar to take them off. My impact, while it has a pretty decent torque rating, would never budge them. I just put the flywheel stopper on, and then twisted it off with a breaker bar while the engine was on the stand.

I've got the perfect tool. I'll have to take a pic of it. It kinda looks like a propeller.

It bolts to the rear hub, then you can bolt that to a wall into some studs with some lag bolts(I used the footer for the garage wall). The longest part is bolting it together. Cake. No impact with nitrous, no 80 ft breaker bar, no need for six people holding the motor steady.

I use a Matco 1/2" impact gun (rebadged Ingersol-Rand) with 700 ft/lbs reverse torque. I heat the bolt up real good with a torch, then blast it off. Sometimes if its stubborn alternatiing between tightening and loosening helps. The big breaker bar method works too but the hardest part is securing the motor.

I tried the methed of a 6' breaker bar and that didn't work. I can't keep the motor on the ground.

I had mine taken off by a place that rebuilds semi trucks. The just took an impact with an ungodly amount of torque and it came off so smooth it was like a hot knife cutting butter.
