removing air bag and ABS lights

Does anybody know if removing these lights would effect the speedo? I assume not.. but my speedo isnt working and I was curious if they were in the loop as a "fail safe" so you know if the bulb burns out.

You really do not need to remove the light bulb for the air bag. If disconnected with the air bag harness still on the car (clock spring still installed) then simply jumper the leads that you disconnected from the airbag.

If you remove the clock spring harness then you have to make a jumper with about 1 ohm resistance and put it in the disconnected air bag terminals, under the steering column. A few weeks ago when I did mine, I did not have a 1 ohm resistor so, I used a piece of welding wire and kept exending the length until the light finally went out on the dash. That was about 8" of wire that was nearly 1 ohm. Placed some shrink tube over it and it was done. Air bag light still comes on when you turn the key but goes off after a few seconds.
