Reliability

Ok, got my father to be willing to buy a RX-7 for me and everything was going fine untill he got wind of the many problems these cars can have. Now I've read through them all and I am convinced that as long as you treat the car good and the car has been prepared for the known issues than the car should be fairly good to you. But he is convinced that I am going to be driving down the highway and the car will screw up 100 some miles away from home and itll be stuck in a hick town or somethin. Anyways what I wanna know is since all of you have plenty of experience with them what you think with the reliability issues and how reliable the car is.

It's not reliability to me, it's more of a maintenance. Before shit breaks, you replace it. That's why I just popped 1200 bucks for a silicone hose job, brand new OEM primary injectors (they were leaking), fuel pulsation dampner (was leaking), new thermostat, and had my secondary injectors balanced by RC. It gets expensive, but if you don't wanna do maintenance then yes, the car will break.
