Reinforcing ppf + what's new?

I was searching around in the archives when i saw this thread about cracked PPFs.I read a couple of posts of guys that reinforced their PPF by welding steel to the weak points.I also read that too much rigidity can cause the differential to crack. The latest thread i found was from 08 so i would like to bring this discussion back to see what have you guys done to reinforce the PPF and is there any new info on better support to keep this from happening.Pictures would be awesome.

I did one for a customer after he literally sheered the lower extension that bolts to the diff right off! I failed to take some pictures but it's just like reinforcing anything else; you just have to know where the stress is exerted and where to weld it.

i suggest you not mess w the PPF but add two supportive components:

Garfinkle Engine Torque Brace
Banzai Differential Brace

^thats what I was thinking, isnt this piece supposed to flex a little?

I reinforced mine after it broke. I also made a transmission brace and have solid differential mounts. Everything is very solid and it's been working great, it's so much nicer being solid. Better feel, better shifts, no wheel hop.

Will the garfinkle brace and the banzai diff brace give me vibration in the chasis? i would like?to keep vibrations to a minimum

The difference in cabin noise and vibration will be minor compared to the difference in your drivetrain slop/shifting feel.

I didnt notice any increased vibrations, except slowly increasing rpms it vibrates once at high rpms. But reving quickly through doesn't.

Thats a good point. There may be a resonate frequency that seems louder than every other point in the rpm range.

Some, but only in the lower rpms from a stand-still. I have solid motor mounts, solid diff mounts and a diff brace and the car has little vibration. The diff brace does make the diff sound louder, but its not that bad. FWIW, I had more vibration with a ETB than the solid mounts, but I didn't have the garfinkle brace.

I personally wouldn't bother messing with the ppf, unless you have a problem or are planning on putting down a rediculous amount of power.
