Reducing weight

how much will getting rid of the AC do in reducing weight? also what are some other things i can do to reduce weight to a noticeable amount?

I have tossed my a/c and p/s, mainly for simplicity's sake. Weight savings are not that much.....you will lose much more weight by tossing the stock full exhaust and going with a cat-less setup.

Main advantage to getting rid of the a/c (other than it makes the motor easier to pull, hehe) is that your radiator is now exposed (non-fmic setup) and gets much more airflow. I now drive and road race the piss out of mine with *no* temp problems whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I road raced in Texas September weather, which was still in the 90s, at one bar, with a peak coolant temp of 99 celcius, and I was really driving her to the limit for 30 min sessions.

Chiks don't like not having AC.

I havent raced the piss out of mine other than the stupid cobra guys (Ihor, you reading this) on the highway every once in a while. I am planning to autocross on Sunday so we'll see what happens with my FMIC and AC condenser sitting infront of the Koyo.

I agree with Dgeesaman, that thing is really heavy. Probably the next thing i am going to throw out.

Actually, since I have had the car I think I have used the AC like twice and then ended up turning off becuase it was raising temps...But I think I will hang on to just to say...Hey, I still have my AC! :D

I thought about that to, but its my car not theres......although i was a little suckered in for the pimp car by putting on a kit, from now on the car is just for performance, no girls or pimp factor involved

I don't know about you guys... but the FD relatively gets pretty damn hot in the summer times..... and damn especially the transmission part gets really hot!!! The heat from the tranny makes the inside of the car hotter than the hot summer nights!!~~ :)
But I bought an Fd with no AC and I installed AC myself and I can say the whole AC system is only about 25 pounds... or maybe not even.... its very light.
if you really want to take out wieght.... try the emissions stuff...air pump and crap like that.... that would be more easier and give you more power too.... down pipe, cat.... :)

Depends if its a daily driver or your only car. Then keep the a/c
