Rebuild parts prices

Hi all,

Just a post for info really.

I'm doing a rebuild soon and have priced up all the parts listed in the Atkins (?) rebuild DVD and have to say you guys get ripped off!

Every part required is more expensive from a US Mazda dealer than a UK one with the exception of the gasket kit and the oil pump chain which are a good deal cheaper for you guys.

Would love to know how Mazda decide the prices! This is Mazda UK vs US prices from a US dealer and a UK dealer. Rotary specialists over here sell at about 10% cheaper than main dealer as well.

Just wondering where you guys get your OEM parts from?

Oh well, just some info I found interesting :)

Mazda FD parts prices are outrageous but any time I looked at UK Mazda prices they were worse, particularly with the current exchange rate. (And the pound was about 20% weaker when I last looked.) Most people here buy their parts from Malloy Mazda, which are usually 70% or so of retail price.

Do you have price comparison examples?

Here ya go...prices are in GBP not USD. US prices came from a Mazda dealer somewhere near San Francisco, UK prices came from GK Ford who are my local Mazda dealer.

Oh yeah that included whatever taxes in that state.

Not sure I understand your table if all the prices are in pounds. What conversion factor did you use? For example, part 082011341 costs about $10, or $40 for 4, not twice that as you list.

In my experience, many Bay Area dealers charge above MSRP for parts. And few people pay sales tax for parts - they just use out of state mail order and expect to pay well under MSRP.

OK well I'll see if I can ring Ray (?) at Malloy at some point. I'm just going on what my friend gave me, I reckon she must have worked some of the things out wrong. The last column is the price I was given for US parts, the one next to that is the same but UK prices.

I have another friend in the US so I'm sure I'd be able to get Malloy to ship there then get them sent over.

Anyways thanks for looking at this tho :)
