Rebuild kit recommendations

Still starts easy and runs pretty strong, idles rough. I have low compression on the second rotor. Has two low bounces, one high. Any recommendations on who to go through for a kit? I have been looking at the kits from Atkins but want some experienced input first. I had a guy from a facebook rx-7 group recommend this kit here FD Performance Rebuild Kit ? Rotors Inc. but I'm not sure about the quality and the fact that they use oem springs and what not. I am looking to build for it to handle more power than stock.

There is really nothing wrong with OEM parts. I've bought all my rebuild kits directly from Ray Crowe. I used aftermarket apex seals and studs, but thats pretty much it..

Have you heard anything about e&j auto works seals?

Built four motors so far with Atkins kits. All excellent!

Did you have to replace or resurface housings?

If you want/need to resurface your housings I would recommend sending them off to Chip Ursu (Chips Motorsports) for lapping and nitrating.

So far, I have not had to resurface any of the housings on the engines we have done. I know people do it and there are pros and cons to doing it. None of the housings needed to be replaced either. All within spec and all were reusable. But these engines were run by guys who premixed. Two were coolant seals, one was a spun bearing, and the other was a rebuild just because it was tired.

Most Atkins parts are oem, unless otherwise noted. The nice thing about their kits is they are very complete and it save a lot of time and guesswork. It is also cheaper to buy the full kits vs piecing things together, especially if you need all the twin turbo and long block gaskets. We put together our own kits but we do source some parts from Atkins as they give better pricing than Mazda on a lot of stuff. For Apex seals I use RX Parts or Mazda oem exclusively.
