Reassemble or rebuild?

So i've torn half of my engine bay apart chasing a recent problem, port wastegate, and in preparation for some block off plates. Looking in the bay, it doesn't seem like much more work to have the engine out and finish taking it apart then ship it to someone. Whats missing is uim, lim, and turbos, dp. Rats nest will come out soon for hose job and replace a broken solenoid. The problem is that my engine has approx. 87k on it. Compression 6 months ago 6k miles ago was

also the problem I was chasing was large amounts of white smoke from the exhaust and engine bay. I didn't let the car warm up, to see if it dissapated[sp]. I did do a test for coolant seal failure though, and it didn't make the bubbles. UIM was off, put i'm not sure if this would make a difference.

Few last things to consider. this in't my daily driver. I could live with it being down for 6 months or so. Money is a little tight. But a rebuild isn't out of the question, after a month or two of saving. I drive my car hard when i do drive it.

So considering all this. would you go ahead and yank the engine and get it rebuilt, or carry on with modifications, and put everything back together and go.

Sounds like a definite yes, to me, based on the comment "I drive hard when I drive". You should be able to get it built within 1-2 months no problem. You could also be more meticulous about reinstallation of the hoses and such with the engine on the stand rather than bent over in the engine bay.

funny that you would reply. I was gonna send it your way if i rebuilt. I'm leaning that ways anyway. You'll prolly hear from me in a month or so. The 7 gets all the left over money after alot of other things.
