Rear window for 92 FD3S

Hello all,

Some time ago my Dad purchased a 1992 FD imported from Japan, he daily drove the car for some time, about a year ago him and my uncle got into a bit of a misunderstanding and my uncle sent some guys over who smashed out my dads rear window. Since then the car has sat with plastic over the rear window since my dad doesn't have his priorities straight and spends his money on other things well the car rots.

He took it to a shop and they needed to order a rear window in from China as they could not find one locally here in Canada or Japan. He has been letting the car rot and really just go to hell instead of spending the money to get the window fixed and I believe his insurance claim runs out very soon.

I'm personally tired of seeing this beautiful car go to waste, especially since he has dreamed of owning one since they originally came out and I know it kills him not to be able to drive it because he is too busy supporting his addictions. I have decided to do something nice for him and try to cheer him up and surprise him with a new window for his car in exchange for agreeing to try to clean his life up as he has done before, he is getting up there in years now and his body cannot handle his addiction, he is suffering heart trouble and I'm afraid he may die soon. At the very least I would like him to have his car back so he has something else to do other than going to work and sitting at home in his room getting high.

The problem is now I cannot find a replacement rear window, any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe me presenting this gift to him and him getting his vehicle back will give him the motivation he needs to get out of this rut and stop being so depressed and work towards getting away from his addiction. He does not have much time left and even if he doesn't kick the drugs I would like to at least let him spend his remaining years driving his car I know he loves and enjoying it.

Thank you for any help you can give me. I really hope I will have some success in not only saving this quite clean example of an FD, but also my dads health and sanity.

It will probably be cheaper to find a fd that someone is parting out and buy the hatch from it.

Finding the hatch glass for your father isn't going to stop his addiction or help him live longer. You're going to need new weatherstripping, glass, and professional fitment (labour + GST = $). You're better off saving the money for a family intervention and rehab to get your father off hard drugs. Who cares about saving the car. Dad>car

part number is FD01-63-930D. It'll cost a grand to get it all done. but I agree. If possible, spend the money getting him help.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

I am planning to get him help for the time being, it is difficult though as neither I or my mom has much money, and he also has a full time job he cannot afford to miss. I'm planning on buying him the glass as not only because its a nice thing to do and I want to help him out with his car, but hopefully I can use this as a bargaining chip to help motivate him to get help, having his car back and a hobby again will be good for him.

Unfortunantly my grandparents heavily favour my drug dealing uncle (who is now currently in jail) and a few years ago when the whole family was pitching in to get him help they made a big stink about a few hundred dollars, and although he was doing great for some time afterwards he has slowly sunk back into addiction.

I realize that fixing his car is not going to make him magically quit drugs, but I'm hoping that somebody doing something nice for him, and having his vehicle back will put him into a better state of mind and more willing to go get help. Regardless this is primarily a gift for my dad because I love him, and I know the car means a lot to him, but I have a feeling that this will help him out of his rut. If it does not, oh well, at least I've done something nice for him and helped him get a vehicle that means a lot to him back. Maybe I cannot making him quit the drugs but at least I can make his life a bit better.

I can get it for you well under $500. Shipping is going to be a PITA though. That's a bit risky shipping that from Japan and having them break it. But yeah I know where I can get 2 of these right now, both used obviously. I have no clue how much shipping would be on something that big. But yeah PM me if you're really interested. It could very well get expensive with shipping though.

I was holding on posting my hatch for sale with glass, if you are willing to take the whole unit off me, Im local so there would be no shipping.

pm me if your interested, I will only sell the whole unit though.
