Rear stock spoiler. Who installed it? Cost?

Have a rear spoiler lying around. Ive been too much of a wuss to do the drilling. Just wondering where you took it and how much it cost you.

I remember taking off my stock spoiler off within an hour of buying my car! Having said that this left 4 holes on each side of my boot which I later paid to get filled and repainted.

Like many others on the forum I'm not a fan of any spoiler but if you insist I'm sure any panel beater shop could do this.

I've heard of people wanting to trade for a non spoiler hatch, you might wanna post a WTT.

For me, I don't hate the spoiler...but the car looks a lot more sleeker without it IMO. I'm going this route eventually.

My body shop charged me $75 to paint it and $50 to install it.

Installed factory wing myself. Cost a couple bucks in fasteners from home despot. The way I did it was to apply masking tape to the entire top surface of the deck, then place the wing on that, measure and center it perfectly, and trace the feet of the wing onto the masking tape. From there it was trivial to drill the holes properly. Seriously anyone can do this in a few hours. Just make sure you touch up the holes you drill with some paint so they don't rust, be careful removing the plastic trim and don't drill into the wiper motor (if touring model). I also put a bead of clear RTV around the surface of each foot of the wing before installation so no water could get under there and subsequently through the holes and into the car. Not sure this is really necessary as the wing has some sort of gasket material already in place but I figure a little extra protection couldn't hurt.

Any good body shop will be able to do it. As I remember there's a paper template that comes with the wing that you spread over the read hatch showing you where to drill the holes. If you don't have it, you might be able to find it online, or find out where to get one.....maybe someone here will give you their's. It also would be worth it to find out exactly what hardware is needed to mount the wing if you don't have that on hand either. Details, details as they say.

I like the way it looks. I did it myself. It was the most nerve racking thing I have ever done because I just got my car back from fresh paint. Just measure a million times. Use blue painters tape and tape the whole trunk deck so you can test fit (again 1million times). Finially strat with a really small bit....make sure it is new and doesnt breakl because if you slip it is going across the paint. Drill through the tape and deck and move up in bit size slowly. Evertually you will be good. Remove tape, touch up the inside of the metal hole with some touch up paint to make sure it doesnt rust and install.

blamo your done.....in about 6 hours. Thats how long it took me at least.....just becasue I pulled out all my hair while doing it!!!!

goodluck,
-josh
