Rear lower control arm pillow bushing..

Hey folks,

Bought my first 3rd gen a few weeks ago and it apparently needs the rear lower control arm pillow bushing to pass inspection. My rex is a 1993 canadian touring model. The bushing i was sent is for a 2001. Does one bushing fit all?

Also, this could be a "noob" question but, all 3 bushings in the lower control arm seem to freely articulate which makes me question this new bushing i was sent because it doesnt move at all and has no rubber end housings/surroundings.

Pictures can be provided of new bushing and also of the lower control arm. Thanks in advance!

Corey

They'll start moving once they're installed. The rubber portions are dust seals that pop in separate from the bushing. If your seals are still in good condition, they can be reused.

You're talking about these bushings, correct?

When new, these are hard to move around. When they're worn, you can easily move/articulate them around with your pinkie finger. Best way to check pillow balls is to pop off the rubber dust covers and check the bushings for play. Leaving the dust covers on, when checking the bushings, will make the bushing feel better than it is because the dust cover is adding some resistance. If you need some of these bushings, I sell them through my website www.j-auto.net.

The bushings were the same through the years. If they are all articulating that freely, you may want to replace them all. I was going to replace just the usual 6 "pillowball" bushings when I refreshed my rear suspension last year but the middle and inner bushing were articulating freely as well so I decided to replace all of them.

I got my stock bushings from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda and the MazdaSpeed / Mazda Motorsports 40% stiffer rubber bushings from Mazda Motorsports.

Yeah, stock pillow balls. The lighting made them look brighter :)

I actually carry stock bushings for the whole chassis as well as other parts. I'm currently working on a new website which will have a lot of product but for the time being, my current website lists the most common/popular items I sell.
