Rear diff leaking!
My rear diff is leaking right where the cat back is. Its a slow leak as in its not leaving a puddle on my floor, also I checked the smell it does not smell burnt. I was just wondering what It would be. Hopefully not anymore serious then a bad seal or gasket.
thanks for any help! -jay |
probably just a side seal

thats what im thinking. Although an easy fix it looks like its a pain in the ass to get that cover off? maybe not tho.
|
you dont need to take the cover off. You pry the stub axle (dont know what its called) off and just replace it from the side. You need to unhook some of the linkage to that wheel so you can pull the axle out too.

RotaryHeads.com has instructions, diff, seal replacement.

If it's the side seals, this might help-------> https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/replacing-rear-axle-side-seals-517073/
Seals weren't much and it's really not a tough repair. Good time to change diff fluid too if it's been a while. |
I would check the pinion seal. Thats were mine first started to leak and it throws the diff oil on the exhaust.
|
^ I did a fix on this as well... it only leaked very little, but it would get on the exhaust ...if this is what it is, then it is a straight forward easy fix, just make sure you mark the drive shaft before you remove it...
