Rate my Boost

Ok so got rid of the Z4 M Coupe and got another FD yesterday.

It's a '93 R1 with 63k miles, pretty mint.

Mods are cat back exhaust and aftermarket air filter set up. Dyno'd at 260 RWHP! Mechanic said that those were the only mods and that just a 'pill' (?) was probably being used as the boost was not spiking at all and was at acceptable levels.

So here's the deal - sometime she boost real hard, sometimes she doesn't. I had this a bit with my old car. It's like if you get on the gas hard at like 3k rpm she'll boost nicely. But get on the gas after say 5k and even in 3rd she sounds like she's leaking boost or something. It's like if the first turbo doesn't get to spool before the change-over then she doesn't want to know.

Any ideas? Also should I come off the pill (arf arf) and just go with another Power FC?

Thanks all...

I've noticed this phenomena too. Usually what happens is I will be in 2nd gear (shift lever in 'L', automatic), revving pretty high around 65 mph or so, and when I stomp it hard it simply has no boost, but if I shift it into 'S' the boost hits HARD as the RPM drops. At the same time, if I am seeing it is not wanting to boost, I can simply back off the throttle a bit and then nail it again and it will boost perfect.
Like you I think it is simply venting the boost thru the CRV.
