Radiator question
 

So I just recieved my aluminum radiator from radiatorworld.com and I noticed that the pipe coming out of the bottom of the radiator has a much smaller opening inside of the end tank compared to the stock radiator. Is this going to cause a problem with the ability of the radiator to cool? The picture on the left is the new radiator, notice how much smaller the opening is than the stock in the picture on the right.

The angle of the picture of the new radiator is such that I cannot see the size of the opening. What is the difference when measured?

The opening on the new radiator is probably about 1cm tall at its highest point, while the stock one is probably about 3 cm.

1 CM?? That sounds like you got a bad radiator. I suggest you call them about sending it back.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I'm definatly going to call them.

1 cm is what, .393 of an inch? So you are saying the opening is only a little bigger than three eighths of an inch?

Yea, I put a ruler in there, and it was about 1 cm at the highest part of the opening.

why not just upgrade it to a koyo or fluidyne?

1cm?! So basically, the opening of the radiator is about the size of an M&M?

Get rid of that bitch and pick up an aftermarket. Koyo, Fluidyne or my personal favorite, SRmotorsports.

I'm going to guess that you are talking about the distance from the bottom pipe to the back wall of the end tank...

If it can flow the same as the thermostat, I would think that there is no problem with it. I just got my radiator world aluminum rad yesterday, I'll post up my measurements to compare.

You must have a manufacturing defect. I checked mine today right before I put it in and yours is not like mine. I did not have my camera with me, but that lower pipe looks like it was not cut before it was welded. Mine was cut at an angle, so you could see the radiator core through the opening.

Yea, I did mean the distance from the pipe to the wall of the end tank. I would like a Koyo, but I just can't afford it right now. Ok, sorry not the best picture, but at you can kind of see the numbers on the ruler. Now realize that there is about half a cm from the end of the ruler to where the measurements begin, but look at how the end of the pipe is only at about the half cm mark.

it looks like they got lazy and chucked the pipe straight down and welded it. the pipe should be flush with the roof.

Just send it back and get another one. Alot of people have had great things to say about these. I'm very happy with mine.

Yea, I called them up and they had great customer service. They are sending me a return label, and then they are going to send a replacement.
