Radiator prob? Is this normal

Ok my water temp guage when I drive says anywere from 185 to 202. It depends on how much my car has to sit and idle. OK so when I get home I let it cool down (suppose to anyway) well my temp rises a little. No prob right. Well I let it run for about 2 mins then shut her down. Well when I go to shut it down the temp is at 220 and no fans on my ratiator have turned on yet. So I turn it off then turn the key right back on and the fans come on. Is this normal? No fans at 220? I am rplacing my ratiator, and running 50/50 mix of water wetters and regular water. Let me know!

Yes, by stock, the ECU doesn't kick the fans on until 221F (at low) and 226F for medium speeds (without electrial load).

Don't let your car sit and idle when you get to your destination. All that does is let the engine temps get hotter. That's why a turbo timer is such a bad idea for an FD. Just drive it easy for the last two minutes of your drive, and turn it off when you arrive.

agreed, just go easy on it for a minute or 2 before you are ready to shut down. This method is also perfect to have in combination with the "timed fan mod". which you flip the switch abotu 2 mins before you are goign to shut down, and then 20 secs after car is off you turn the switch back off and it will run the fan regardless of temp for abotu 10 mins. Doesnt affect battery and cools the engine ALOT more then letting it sit and heatsoak after you shut down.
