Radiator fans not turning on

I just got my car started a couple weeks ago and for the few times i started it up and idle i noticed that the fans dont turn. At what temp do the fans usually click on? I dont want to over heat my brand new engine, need help.

Turn on the air conditioner to check if the fans work. Sounds like you need to do some kind of fan operation modification. If you wait for the thermosensor to turn on the fans... they will probably come on at 226F.

Would it be a bad idea to rewire it so that they are on all the time?

If you're going to that much trouble, include a switch on the dash to turn them on and off.

yes, because the motor may never reach optimal temp before operating. I would start with checking the cooling fan fuse in the black box next to your battery, then the relays next to your intake

I think the stock ECU turns them on low speed at about 220F. They should then be at Med speed when the thermswitch closes at about 225F.

The problem with running the fans all the time, as was mentioned, is that the car would take a very long time to warm up. You don't want to boost until the car is around 180F and fully warmed up is about 200F IIRC.

Base on the thermostat temp ranges and when the fans should kick on, I'm guessing that the temperature "sweet spot" is between 200F-220F.

EDIT: Makes me think I should check to see what my coolant gauge is reading when the fans kick on. Normally I here them running after I've stopped driving. I never here them kick on while driving over the road/engine/exhaust/music noise.

^ that makes sense. So at what temp does the PowerFC turn them on. Is there a setting where you can change the temo that they click on?

You need the Datalogit to adjust the fan settings on the PFC.

ok, I checked the settings on FCedit and they show that they turn on around 90 degrees celcius. but I have ran the engine up to those temps and they dont turn on. I also turned on the ac and still nothing. I checked the fuse box in the engine bay and the fuse is fine. I guess Im out of ideas. Tomorrow I will check the relays, how do you check them?

Very similar problem with a lot of troubleshooting information in it. Do you have the FSM? The relay testing procedure is there in the cooling section:
