r1 lip fitment

Wil an R1 lip fit a 99 spec front bumper? Or will i have to purchase the 99 front lip? My 99 spec was ordered along with the pre-auto light kit, but i didint think to tell the body shop to order the 99 spec lip.

well im not sure if it would fit, probably could with some adjustment but it wouldnt look "right". Your going with 99 spec to somewhat upgrade the looks and IMO sticking with the r1 doesnt meet that goal. Bite the bullet and buy the 99 spec lip, you'll be much much happier

yea, your right, but i wasnt upgrading my front end for looks, someone hit me and the option was there. I just didint know about the lip, ive really never looked at it up close. If i had 4k from my pocket(instead of insurance paying for it), it would have definitly gone to something else other than looks. Thanks for the input though.

The real question would be does the 99 just bolt on to the 93-95 front end. If it does the I'd assume the same would be for the other way around.

I'm pretty sure it does since many people have them on their cars. Hell who knows.. that look would be different, and different is always good. =)

nope... in this case I highly doubt that.

The 93-95 front end vs 99 front end have different locations and slot sizes for the brake ducts and differ about 3/8" into the wheel well. The 99 lips fits to a earlier front end better than the other way around and the early lip will be about 3/8 short of fender line at front wheel. To really fit 99 spec one should go with 99 brake ducts and all... otherwise you will see daylight where the Mazda gods did not intend.
