R1 Lip any suggestions?

Hey guys I was wondering if their were any good ideas out there for getting a fading black R1 Lip black to a black that stands out a little. I mean mine is black and all and looks good with armourall on it but I am looking for a more perm fix. Any ideas on how to get this thing gleamin again?

p.s. Mods I searched but coudln't find anything so I am sorry if I missed it

You can use any kind of tire shine product, either a spray on gel or one of the aerosal can foams.

What color is your car? You'll want to stick with water based tire shines if your car is a light color.

Get it CF wrapped!

Use Mothers Back to Black. After about 2-3 coats it bought the lip back to what it used to be getting rid of all the fading I had. Kept it that way for a whole summer before I had to reapply it.

I guess one solution is to sand it a little to get any imperfections out, primer it and shoot it with some semi-gloss black paint....

But if you want to avoid that route, you can always try Forever Black Bumper And Trim Kit. Just google it.

Any tire shine product is fine.

This is actually the best stuff, I had forgotten all about it. I have used it on all my rubber/plastic/vinyl trim pieces, interior panels, and exterior pieces like the 99 front lip.

All the guys suggesting paint and cf wrap----that is a great idea until the first time you whack something and the lip flexes :)

There was an old thread where someone used the rubberized paint for truck beds. IMO, thats a better option as its designed to take a beating.

Hey, I got some of that dupont teflon stuff, it's distillate free, so apparently it protects rubber. What do you think of something like that?

you may also try some future floor wax from any dept store, works great on all the plastic cladding on my avalanche.

Don't use tire shine - Use this stuff just as Skich said, 2-3 coats. It lasts and isn't as nasty and greasy.

Try the dupont stuff. It's a teflon based liquid. It dries right away and has the consitency and nastiness of water pretty much.

Any aerosol paint you use should be labled as flexible. Pretty much any black paint would work, but you need to add a flex-additive such as they use for the bumper covers. You can buy it in various brand names at any local shop supply house. Air and a sprayer would be preferred but you could reduce it and TRY applying with a brush.

I've had great luck with Forever Black on another vehicle (Mercedes 190E 2.6 Limited Edition) that was having the same problem with the black plastic bumper sections. It is a fairly permanent solution.
