I have a 93 R1 completely stock and was wondering if anyone else with an R package has Bilstein shocks from the factory? I have Mazda recepts from the person i bought the car from that had them replaced because 2 of them were defective and were replaced by Mazda under warranty. Just wondering?Anyone else?

I'm not sure on this, but didn't the Bilstein shocks become part of the optional suspension package after Mazda stopping importing RX-7's into the U.S.? I think they were put on the RZ, and maybe some others. Could the previous owner have bought them through Mazda and then put them on his car after he bought it?

Its possible but the warranty claim for the new shocks went right threw the dealer. As you know all Bilsteins are warrantied for life no matter how many miles, in this case they were replaced because the fronts were leaking but Mazda replaced them with new units and sent the old back (no charge mazda ate the labor cause it was under warranty). I also realize maybe Mazda warrrantied the replacement and the owner supplied the Bilstein shocks but just wondering if anyone else heard anything else about this? Thanks

Now you've got me curious (and confused).

Are all 4 shocks Bilstein's, or just the two that were replaced?
