Quickest time to blow an engine?
Just wondering what was the quickest time(lowest kms) you blew your engine???
|
Also what was the cause?? Constant thrashing, unsafe mods, untuned... etc
|
I believe that would be jspecracer7, he has blown 5 this year!

ZoomZoom had four engines last year ('03). I think one was like a week or so. :(
|
i had one go in 1500miles, and it was built by a professional and very reputable builder
never got a refund or warranty repair |

i knew a dumbass rich kid that got an rx7 and turned up the boost controller and blew his engine within 3 hours of owning it....moron...then his parents bought him a new engine and anything else he wanted...no respect what a shame

I don't think Zoomzoom's last 4 or 5 motors have gotten past break in, but the failures are due to sloppy mechanic work (miswired ignition harness ect) not simple wear.
Those of you with a legal background are probably familiar with the egg-shell skull principle: a defendant is accountable for the full amount of damage sustained by a victim, even if the victim sustains excessive injuries due to a pre-existing weakness, such as a spinal problem. This is tempered by a bunch of other concepts, but that's the general idea. Rotary engines are just like egg-shell skull victims. Mistakes that would have minor consequences on a piston engine tend to be fatal on a rotary. However, it's still the fault of the mechanic not the motor. |

Originally posted by clayne And one has to be damn sloppy to miswire the ignition harness - it's not like there's a lot going on, wiring wise. |
I know Batman had 165,000 on his first motor, and since then, he's up to 240,000 and he's due for his 6th motor =) That's a motor every 15,000 miles. (At least he's consistent =P)

Originally posted by jimlab Mandeville Racing, arguably one of the best FD tuners, blew three ceramic apex seal engines in a row for one FD owner before they found out that the Motec wiring harness was the problem. Shit happens. :) |
