quick ? on sodering tach wires
i have the dash apart and the gauges out and in my room. I took out the 4 main screws to seperate the gauges from the dash piece and now im trying to open the gauge piece with the white piece that has the little black tabs that u need to push in all around. I didnt take out all the little screws on the back of the gauge piece. Do i need to or shoudl it just seperate by pushing the little black tabs in. Any help is appreciated, im trying to check the soderings. Also i have searched all threads related to this and just need the extra help. TIA

If I remember right, you should just need to push all little tabs out of their locking positions to separate the two.
Are you trying to fix the tach by resoldering? Just to let you know, I tried it with no luck. |
i have all the black tabs pushed and the whole thing feels like it should pull right apart except for the sides which feel liek theres sumthin holding it from inside or sumthin. Do i just need to man up and force it apart or do all the screws come out. Thanks 911, yea im gunna try to check the sodering before i try to get a replacement piece because money is damn tight.

damn, lots of us with broken tachs. Idk bout u guys but to me it just seems like the Tach is the heart monitor of the car....and i cant picture driving awhile with it broke. I hope this can be an easy fix and im looking for sum1 who already has fixed theirs or knows where to look on the gauge cluster to find the possible problem. if not ill try to get a digi camera in a bit so i can take pics of it to make it easier on ppl
