Quick Release / Tilt Hub Recommendations for tall drivers

Anyone running a tilt/quick release hub with a smaller wheel?

The seat is as far back as it'll go and the stock wheel will rub against my legs. I've been in FD's with smaller wheels and quick release hubs, but not sure which route to go or what options are being run.

Advice on the hubs and wheels would be great.

Thanks!

One of the things that I've been contemplating doing is cutting a small slice out of the cross bar under the dash where the steering column attaches to and re-welding it further up so that the wheel is a bit raised.

I did something similar in my Spec Miata. Although in that car I wanted to move the steering wheel down after installing a lower race seat.

seems like you could cut either side of the tube, weld a metal plate to the ends of the tube and weld the piece of tube you cut off up higher.

And then deal with the impact that had on the dash plastics.

Looks like a big pain.
I would try for a smaller steering wheel and spacing it back (I imagine with long legs your legs are highest at the knee).

The tilt or removable wheel hub will help you get in the car, but you still need to be able to drive it.

Stock FD steering wheels blow, toss that thing out as soon as you pick up your new car :)

350mm steering wheel of your preferred flavor (I like the Nardi D wheel), and a Works Bell shortie hub along with a Works Bell Rapfix II Quick Release. Setup I ran on my old VR R1 and loved it, it suited a guy of my height just fine

I saw your text but decided it was better to post all this up here ;)

Haha, smartass! That's the mind of info I need. Hub include any resistors for airbag light?

Yep, that's exactly what I had in mind. Definitely more work.
The only impacted plastics would be the squarish pieces around the steering column. You'd likely have to clearance the top rear. I'd be OK with that.

I missed that OP had the stock wheel. I didn't know anyone still ran a stock wheel. :)
The typical D shaped Momo would be an easy step in the right direction.

Yes, with the Works Bell hub adapter.

Miata hubs fit as well.
