Quick question on the value of a base model FD
I was wondering your guy's honest opinion on this, its a 94 base model (5-spd) it has leather added, just a cd-player (no cassette or bose), and a metal sunroof
car is in decent shape, so is the leather, the car is completetly stock and runs "pretty good" (I'm by no means a mechanic) and the mileage is 98,000km (~59,000 miles) on original engine. |
"Pretty good" could mean a lot of things, but if it is running perfectly, and the body and interior are in good shape, I think $17000 is a fair price. From there I would subtract money for whatever problems there are. Don't base the cost on what kind of features there are like leather, sunroof, etc, this is the wrong mindset. Focus more on what may need replacing, that will decide how much the car is worth. Not many RX-7s out there need nothing at all to run perfectly, although a lot come close.

well, pretty good to me is... i didn't see/feel anything offhand that might be wrong with the engine. the reason i mention the trim model and the options is coz i'm wondering if these are worth more or not based on touring model, r1/2, base, etc...
also... do you guys think the mileage is high? or decent? |
It isn't a Base model if it has a sunroof. It is a PEG (preferred equipment group).
Anyway FDs value doesn't really change much for the model. Condition, mileage and color are more important than model. Tourings were about $4K more than Base models new. PEG were only available in 94-95, few Touring models were made in 94, none in 95. Model trim packages might vary slightly in Canada, I know they made (OK imported) a CYM base model in Canada. Jeff |
