Quick Question: Efini Y-Pipe Install
I'm currently in the process of trying to install an Efini Y-Pipe, but I'm still trying to take out the original Y-Pipe. Do I need to remove the air pump first??? I really don't want to remove the air pump, but looking at it, I'm not sure if it'll come out without first removing the air pump.

You don't have to remove the air pump for this job. Once you get all the hoses out of the way and the left piece of the stock y pipe off, you can then with some patience, work the right piece out. Its a tight fit, but it will slide out awkwardly. Same goes for the install of the efini y pipe, get the right side in, then the left, then combining them once they are somewhat in place.

Hehe, Tim's right. Then again, I spent so much time trying to wiggle that thing out, it would have been faster to remove the airpump, hehe.
Worried about the belts/tension/et al? Don't be - pretty straight forward to put everything back together again. |
thanks tim. i'll try that when i get back to it. right now i'm waiting on some silicon hoses. i figured i'd replace the ones i can get to now, then maybe tackle the rat's nest some other time :)
dclin, yes, that's what i was worried about. wasn't there a thread awhile back about belts that were too tight that killed the bearings in the water pump, causing a water pump failure, & an overheat situation. i'm not ready for an engine rebuild yet :) thanks guys. |
