quick question?
I have a '93 and when i start it up when it is cold, the rpm's shoot to 2,000 and hangs there for a second, if i crack the throttle once it stops right away when the car has been running it has no problem. i have no idea why it does this any help would be appreciated!

This is normal, it's caused by the AWS = accelerated warmup system.
If you want know more, run a search for "AWS". Dave |
You can start the car in gear to prevent this from happening. Or you can disable your AWS with block off plates as well.

that is probably it, i don't start my car in gear i will look into the AWS as well, thanks for both your inputs.

many discussions have been brought up on this regarding whether or not the AWS design is good or bad. Some folks don't like the idea of a cold engine shooting up to 3K rpm... I'm one of those folks, so I either start in gear or blip the throttle...
