Quick Boost controller clarification needed
So I installed my AVC-R last night..
and now I'm trying to use it but i'm getting weird results.. first off it's a Rich mans non-sequential.. on the wastegate I have the No port connected to the Turbo outlet (2nd nipple blocked) on the COM I have the Wastegate Upper nipple Connected... and the 2nd nipple blocked off At low RPM the boost controller is ignored.. boost is at 0.5 bar.. at high rpms.. then the boost controller starts to function at the boost goes to whatever I set it at... it's almost like I'm controlling the secondary turbo only lol.. except it's NS  before I start playing with Fire... am I supposed to Leave the 2nd nipple open instead? or do I connect the top port to the pressure source as stock and connect the side nipple to the AVC-R instead? quick assistance is much appreciated.. I have searched.. and couldn't find a clear explanation of what I needed.. most info pertained to stock sequential system.. and other diagrams I found had contradicting info.. |
here is what i used to hook up my boost controller. i know the guide has you do it but dont tap or change the prespool line. and make sure you cap the other end of the wastegate actuator. i really dunno if this will help or not. im still running seq =/

I saw that page in my searches..
umm pre spool line? I don't have sequential system they run parrallel all the time that's why i'm confused.. because I thought the 1 wastegate is controlling both turbo's.. and that the boost should immidiately rise to the pre-set boost level not only the secondary turbo.. |
basically I followed this diagram:
https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...5&d=1216959019 and primary turbo is still stuck at 0.50 Bar.. is the diagram wrong? |
edit.. double post
|
well I went out to the car and started experimenting
results and failures so far: Ran pilled hose from turbo to upper nipple on WG and COM from the solenoid to Side nipple... and NO pressure source from 2nd turbo nipple...stock boost Ran COM to upper nipple and blocked side nipple... Stock boost Ran the COM to the upper nipple, blocked 2nd turbo nipple.. and kept side nipple open... Boost SHOT up like hell.. as if there was no WG hose at all.. I left off ~1 BAR.. (that was a scary moment as I haven't tuned that high yet) Then I figured.. if leaving the side nipple open made the boost go wild.. it must have to be regulated Some how.. I tried TEE-ing the COM to both Side and Top Nipple.. I really thought it was gonna work... zip zero nada.. nothing... Still stock boost.. it's now 11pm here.. and I can't be WOTing up and down the hood anymore.. so it's closed for the day.. and I have work in the morning and then hit the gym.. *sigh*.. and here I was all phsyced to finally feel the power for the first time after owning the car for almost 3 years.. tommorrow I'll try the following.. Top nipple Open.. Side nipple only to COM Top nipple Blocked... Side nipple only to COM if all that doesn't work.. I dunno what to do.. does anyone know when ur supposed to use the NC port instead of the NO port? |
well I've discovered that:
NO port= Normally Open NC port= Normally closed any idea which one I should use? this lack of boost control is getting VERY annoying! HELP me! |
manifold goes to NO
wastegate to COM |
I was hoping you'd chime in howard..
that's what I did right off the bat! as the diagram says so.. and it's not working.. :( obviously the wastegate works because the boost went up like crazy when I left the second nipple open.. but it's not controlling the boost... this is very strange |
Good news!
it's finally working.. *phew* what a relief |
Post how you solved it.

I realized that the solenoid wasn't clicking on when I powered up..
plug was loose.. clicked it in better.. and I hooked up the hoses by TEE-ing the COM to both Side and Top Nipple.. NO to the turbo nipple.. 2nd nipple blocked It's working properly now and I'm boosting 1 Bar @ about 53% Sol. duty cycle.. spikes are minimal 1.05 at most.. the car feels like an Animal now.. pulling strong! fuel tuning is done.. i hope to dyno it soon.. and iron out the timing on the PFC base map.. |
Hi,
sorry for revive this this thread. But i didn't find a right place for my question. Does anyone know what this red line is good for? There is an additional port in the engine (connected to the hose) to the center housing. I hope anyone knows what its good for. Didn't find something on the workshop manuals |
