Quick! Best tranny fluid for my fd ?

Just got my transmission bolted up and I'm wondering what's the best tranny fluid I can get at any Canadian auto store ?

I prefer to use a synthetic. You need 3 quarts of 75w90.

If you're at the mercy of what's at the parts store, you won't have much choice. Just get the right weight and synthetic.

Neo synthetic... The expensive stuff

Mr.Snakey 03-22-14 05:44 PM

So all the store has is moto master synthetic 75w90. It's the right weight and synthetic but moto master is the best brand out there. Although it is $15 a bottle

Mr.Snakey 03-22-14 05:45 PM

Meant to say that moto master is not the best brand

Neo is the best. You can order it from Baker Precision.

Circle Track transmission Oils 75w90HD 75w90rhd LW18 Neo Gear oil synthetic

Dont put crap in your tranny just because you dont want to wait!!!

Last time i was using Neo....then recently switched to Amsoil MTG. Either way you cant go wrong...haven't driven a whole lot on the Amsoil but the feel is just as good if not better than the Neo.

NAPA Autoparts stocks Redline fluids.

I do not prefer Mobil 1. Has not worked well for me in the past.

HalifaxFD 03-24-14 01:45 PM

Check out Raven Auto in Halifax, James usually stocks the good Redline brand. Unless you are still in SK.

I've had regular stuff . and made shifting much worse specially when cold , changed to royal purple and everything got better .. I dont know how good neo is , but I know that Royal puple atleast is alot better then most of thestuff on the counter

Definitely get the Neo synthetic. I just replaced my trans fluid that was Neo to Amsoil, big mistake. The trans shifted much smoother with the Neo fluid.

I wouldn't recommend Redline as there seems to be evidence it kills bearings.

I killed the bearings in my trans with Redline and then did a forum search and found others that killed trans bearings racing with Redline.

My "Personal choice is to replace All 75/90w gear oil with 20w-50w castrol + a pint of power punch (now Lucas). been doing this for 30+ years never a problem.
