Questons about 1999 Spec Front End
 

2 quick questions,
I am pretty sure the Oil Cooler ducts from the 93-95 front ends Do Not fit the 99 Spec front end?

Now, do any of the Shops that sell the kit, sell the ducts with it?

Nope and call the shop and see if they can make you a set.

usually will relocate it for you ..... but depend the shop... some will do the good job , some will not

They offer fiberglass ducts for the stock oil coolers & are designed to fit the 99 front bumper.

About $140 for the pair

I don't have a set, but might consider it. It's only money.......

The series-8 (99-02) nose is a popular conversion here down under for our series-6 (92-95) & series-7 (96-98) domestic cars.

Many ask about the brake ducts as they didn't fit on conversion time. Now I know where to fix that problem.

On the new 99+ front end the brake ducts are integrated with the oil cooler ducts. I've have the 99+ brake ducts and front splitter for a year or so now, and I can tell you that they do not duct any air from the nose to the oil coolers. I have no idea what Mazda was thinking on this one.
Anyway, I now have the CWR dual oil coolers and am in the process of installing the full 99 front end. CWR is making a prototype oil cooler ducts for the 99 nose that will fit with their oil coolers, and I'm the guy test fitting it for them. Hopefully we will have this ready in a month or so.

Please keep us updated on this, I was thinking of upgrading both of my oil coolers to something like the CWR, RE, or customs ones, and would rather not mess around with making a ghetto duct.

just as a side note, most places that sell the '99 front end are able to get the ductwork. i chose not to get it because i was wanting to explore into some sheetmetal work to get the flow better

That's the point... when you say the 99 front end ductwork there are only 3 items you could be talking about:
1) the undertray (part # F140-56-1B0A),

2) the "air guide" (part # F138-50-A21) (no picture available), and
3) the combination brake & oil cooler ducts (Part # F138-43-64FB)

I don't think that the combo brake & oil cooler ducts line up at all to force air through the oil coolers. I also question how well the "air guide" will route air to the radiator, but since I haven't seen it yet I don't know for sure. I plan on again adding custom ducting and sealing to the radiator once I get all these installed.

I'll keep everyone informed on the progress of the CWR oil cooler ducts for the 99+ front end. If you have stock dual oil coolers, those R magic ducts look pretty nice... but the CWR ducts are carbon fiber. :bling:

I will second Coulthard Fan.
I have the '99 front end with the '99 ducts and even tough I agree with what has been said, I do notice a quicker temperature return on my oil temp gauge.
Also keep us posted with the CF ducts.

How much is the undertray (part # F140-56-1B0A). Mine is completely shot.
